Business claims cannot rely on consumer law and are therefore slightly different. See here:

Wrote to lloyds to reclaim business bank charges, (no longer have the business) they refused after 1st letter, stating business accounts due not fall under "consumer law", wrote second letter stating I was claiming under "common law" just had reply, they still refuse to refund charges, Final Response, as they consider there charges fair for going over the overdraft limit etc (be it for only a day mostly). They say to take it to the Ombudsmen - so I will do just that.
Anyone else had success with the ombudsmen on business charges please?

Does anyone else think this reclaiming charges/ppi from the banks is going to get harder, due to the credit crunch/money problems the banks are having at present.

  • Does anyone know if you can claim bank charges back for small businesses.:rotfl:
  • Hi everyone,

Please can anyone let me know if I can reclaim bank charges on a business account. I am with the Royal Bank of Scotland and find that they are not helpful or understanding. They seem to be just interested in charging me whenever possible. I am rarely overdrawn but it does happen on occasions. I want to know also if it would affect my small business regards banking account and if I had to move bank would other banks stop me from joining them. By this I mean do they pass on info to each other.Any info would be appreciated.
  • Good morning,
I have looked through a lot of replies to this huge topic and not found the answer to my question which is: Can I reclaim charges on my business bank account in the same way as a personal account?

    Thanks

  • Can you still claim your charges for buisness accounts, my father's company banks with Barclays and they are forever charging him for bounced checks and all sorts, all in all i think he is owed a small fortune over the 5 years his buisness has been up and running, even when he has uncleared funds coming into the account for thousands they still bounce checks and show now mercy at all.. the problem is my father is no good with technology or tracing things up so i said i would try look it up for him but before that i just wanted to know if it applies for Buisness accounts to before wasting my time ?
  • Hi. I'd like to know the answer to this too. Had my own small business for a couple of years and got hammered for bounced chq & DD charges. I've since closed the account though, so if you can claim for business accounts can you do so if the account is closed? Its all very confusing!!!

  • I have a business current account with Lloyds TSB and I sent them a letter to reclaim all bankcharges early last year, but they have informed me that we cannot reclaim on our business account. Is this correct? If not, could you please let me know what I have to do and how to proceed. Also, Lloyds have an issue regarding our business account, and have sent a letter stating that they are closing the account within 1 month fomr the date of the letter sent out to us (March 2008). Can they do this? I was under the impression that if the bank have concerns with the account they would ring or write for us to come into the branch for a discussion with our Business Banking Manager, which was not done. Please could you let me know what our status is on both issues asap. Thankyou Paula65
