My bank (RBS) send me a letter every 12 months telling me that for the pleasure of allowing me to have an overdraft they will charge me £120.00. Surely not proportionate to actual cost. Is it worth trying to reclaim the last six years £120.00 ??0

No, You can't claim back the arrangement fee for an over/draft facility, this is a service charge, but I do agree, the cost is ridiculous0

Thanks. I think I'll have a bash anyway. It will only cost me the price of a letter.0

Can anyone advise me whether I am able to apply to reclaim exorbitant charges placed on a business account. The account is in my partners name, but with the addition of Trading As (and his business name).
I have written the sequence of letters to Lloyds and their response at the end of it all was "only consumers, not businesses, can apply for refund of charges".
Is this correct?0 -
Help!
I've claimed for arrangement fees (£100 a time to increase overdraft on the business account) and renewal fees at £50 a time, totalling £354. HSBC have written to me saying they're not prepared to consider any refund requests that include any other services you may have previously requested, or that were pre-agreed and notified to you them. (on the phone they said it would be £100 to increase overdraft). I've said that this is totally out of order for a simple administrative task.
HSBC have said 'in light of the comments made concerning their facility fees, if you find that our arrangement fees to be unacceptable, then you may wish to consider making alternative finantial arrangements with a provider whose tariff you find more acceptable.'
They're offering £64 to close this claim.
Can I still take them to court, or am I going to have to swallow it and take the £64??? Can anyone help?
Many thanks0 -
Hi,
The claims only relate to charges you have incurred going into or increasing unauthorised overdrafts, returned payments/direct debits or bounced cheques.
I don't think as your overdraft charges appear to be agreed charges for arranging the overdraft/extention of overdraft and renewal you will be able to get that money back.
I would think the £64 they have offered is a goodwill payment and may be all you are going to get from them unfortunately. If you do decide to take it forward please keep us informed of how you go....
