I am finding the food thing so hard during lockdown!DFW (08/08) £64,346.53 Gone (02/19)

I'm trying really hard to get back into good habits but whereas we would usually top up the fruit bowl every few days and can't right now, I've been reaching for alternatives. Tinned fruit is my friend right now!
Somehow we needed another food shop yesterday only 4 days after the last one, another £31.45 spent.Sent an 85p overpayment recently which was money requested from tcb and the accounts are looking very healthy. Only 5 days until payday and I would like to think we will spend very little in that time. Neither of us have needed to top up with fuel this month which is unheard of so obviously saving money there. Our cars still get a good run on the work commute so hopefully it's enough to keep them ticking over.Planning a spa afternoon with dd today which will be a nice treat and fits in well with a full day weather wise. Other than that planning a few garden jobs and will be on the lookout for my plants which were 'out for delivery' yesterday and don't seem to have arrived. Hoping that since the puppy now ignores the newly painted empty pots he remains disinterested in them once planted! We shall see!April spends

Thanks debtfree, the sunshine yesterday was lovely. On Saturday I did a bit of a pamper for myself and the children (who now want daily foot soaks!) and we watched a film in the middle of the afternoon. Yesterday we had lovely sunshine so spent some
time outside (I was in the garden most of the day.) Managed to get all my plants in pots and so far so good. Also moved an old pallet cover which had
been used as a raised bed (Dh moved the soil last week). Ds came to help me plant and told me he had been planting some seeds in school last week. It's good to know they have continued normality attending school and are learning life skills (dd did some sewing last week too). We have a few plants left so will take them to school to see if they would like them.Accounts looking healthy so send £50 to my n3xt account to offset some of my sale spending (all items being used and enjoyed) and I'll make plans for the rest a bit closer to payday. Not too confident our holiday refund is going to be easy to get but will cross that bridge when I come to it. Just hoping booking through an agent on a cc gives us a bit more protection and refund rather than voucher entitlement.Enjoy the lovely sunshine this week, hoping to be able to sit in the garden with a coffee after work this week.

Hi Cath, I gave my daughter a mini facial the other day as a treat, now she wants one everyday! The weather make a huge difference to, well, everything really I think. I hope you manage to get the refund without too much hassle, keep pushing xx4

Are your kids still at school during this time Cath or have I misread that?

We did facemasks too ATB and she did another one this evening. Striking the balance after spending the afternoon practising football skills in the garden!
Yes debtfree, we are both key workers and working as normal so they are able to attend. Dh just picks them up as soon as he finishes. They're doing some more work in school time now which is better as trying to hone educate and work full time is not easy.Payslip ready and had a small payrise, that's going straight to the mortgage!Early night needed here, feeling completely drained which has come from nowhere as been feeling really positive in spite of everything! Hoping I'll be fine after some quality sleep.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!6 -
Good morning, earlyish night had and will see what today will bring
Quick check of accounts as it is payday tomorrow. There was £28 left in current account so sent that to stoozing cc to cover a £7 expense (on more furniture paint) yesterday. There was over £180 left in the food/fuel account so we have done really well there! Have sent £100 to a 0% card and will what's left after planned food shop tomorrow (which in theory should come out of the next £500 allowance which gives us a head start).
y0ugov survey waiting so will have a look after work.
Enjoy this continued sunshine everyone. I'm hoping the garden will really start to come to life soon. I have a clematis that usually comes back each year but not a lot seems to be happening yet. Dh says he found a wasps next in a garden storage box so at least some things are happening in the garden!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!4 -
Hi Cath
If the kids are going into school they shouldn't have to do any work at home, they should be doing it there.
You've got enough to do!

Thanks Jue, since going back after Easter they seem to be doing more structured work in school which is a huge help.
Still only small numbers attending too so I'm hoping they're finding that balance.Am completely drained this week and had a very sleepless night last night. Am more than ready for the weekend!£2.15 sent to mortgage from a survey payment and £107 sent to a 0% card which was made up a regular £50 contribution and £57 left in the food account. I really want to send that £57 to the mortgage but the cc needs it more.
