Thanks Pooky, still lots of unknowns but everything okay at the moment.

Was a bit extravagant and spent almost £10 on lunch today but it happens very rarely and was thoroughly enjoyed. £6.82 food shop and no tilly tidies as all funds are much needed!

I have managed to complete some home admin tasks that were taking up much needed headspace. Major forms filled in and also re-registered dd for another season with her local football club. She has trials for the regional team next week so could potentially be quite busy next season. She also has two birthday parties over the weekend which almost makes it feel like it's over before it's started.

I'm trying not to make many more plans other than finally watching some w1mbled0n!

    July spends

    Supermarket £91.66
    Fuel £30
    June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!

We have had a NSD! 41p Tilly tidy and food budget looking ok. I'll need fuel in the next couple of days as almost in the red and I'm not the type to push my luck with milage!

Fitness has taken a back seat the last couple of weeks due to new commitments at home. I have finally hit 10k steps today though so hoping I've got my motivation back there. Go on holiday again in 7 weeks and would like to feel a little trimmer.

Plan now is to start my new book, read for 15 minutes and lights out by 11pm as I'm not getting nearly enough sleep at the moment.

Will sign off and catch up with diaries tomorrow.

Hi Cath, just spent some time catching up on your diary. I’m sorry you’re feeling a bit stressed lately. Looks like you’re making some great progress though :)

Thanks cosmocat and velvet freak. Am feeling more rested after sleeping in until 7am when ds woke me. Dh and dd still snoozing.

We have had big changes which affect us for the short term, probably around 6 months but it needed to happen and is for the best. I know that's sounds cryptic and although I'm very open on here at times prefer to keep this more discrete. However, we are all okay, and although stressful and life changing, it's nothing bad :)

So mortgage freedom continues. 4p Tilly tidy yesterday and £2.10 sent this morning. Done some more money shuffling and in theory we should make it to payday (despite my eagerness to send a £403 overpayment twice!!) ah well, sets us up nicely for next month.

Predicted spends today include pocket money for the children (they have a couple of chores to do alongside this, at 10 and 7 I think this is apporpriate) and £20 on dd football registration. She has regional trials this week which will mean more money. We are also going to encourage some savings if pocket money towards their holiday spends.

More money sent to childcare pot, I'm trying not to look at the numbers as it's a bit depressing but I need to remind myself we used to spend more than that every month a few years ago.

Off to the gym this morning and have decided to cut out cake/biscuits. I know calories are calories but I have no self control at the moment and have no off switch. We always have plenty of fruit so will stick to healthier choices at the moment and see if that works for me. Dh poured me a glass of wine last night but I didn't like the taste to have it back to him. Was happy with a cheap fruity fizzy pop version in a wine glass and 100's of calories saved.

  • Sorry to hear you're feeling a bit stressed Cath but pleased to hear your changes are for the best & cryptic is definitely the way forward sometimes.
If you're cutting out cake and biscuits it can be a good idea to replace it with something equally enjoyable so that you feel like you're not missing out. Perhaps a fruit smoothie or make them into ice-lollies or even a frothy coffee? I made some delicious ice-cream out of frozen bananas and peanut butter - i just whizzed it up in my blender & it tasted amazing.

I do the frozen bananas + peanut butter thing too. In fact, I don't even bother to always freeze the bananas, just mash the two ingredients together and sample!

Hope you are looking after yourself Cath and have a good weekend :)

  • Hi Cath, I completely understand you being cryptic, some things are just too private to share. I hope you're ok. Childcare costs are depressing. We are lucky we don't have to pay for holiday clubs as I work term time only, but we pay about £30 a day in before and after school clubs each day.

    Enjoy your Sunday x
