Good to see you MG.
It only needed 30 minutes in the dryer so not too bad and it got the job done.
Absolutely shs, we did strip the wallpaper ourselves to save £50 though!
Looking forward to getting the house valued once it is done. I have a figure in mind of what I would like it to be worth and would like to know there is still plenty of equity in the property.
Quiet day here, Ds has a party which dh has volunteered to take him to. I need to pick dd up as she had a sleepover at my mums last night.
6 days until payday and very strict budget required! 6 nsd would be nice but highly unlikely!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
I have a wheat allergy so follow a mostly gluten free diet (I can eat barley and rye, but not wheat which is far more common unfortunately).
A great place to go for it is the London Allergy Show (or the Liverpool one if you're closer to the North West). Free entry and so many deals / freebies. I stock up for months. And it gives you a good opportunity to try loads of different samples / recipes to know if it's worth buying.
It's not too hard, especially nowadays. I've not knowingly eaten wheat since I was in my teens and the options are far better now. If you like to bake, I'd pick up some xantham gum. It helps replace the gluten by making things sticky.0 -
Thanks for those tips Michelle, I'm not finding it too hard at the moment but it is early days! Definitely worth stocking up at the allergy shows. I feel great again today so definitely not rushing to re-introduce gluten back into my diet.
I resisted wine last night, had a hot chocolate instead which is only marginally better. I do find it harder to stay awake if I've not had wine though, think I get bored! Am reading a particularly good thriller at the moment so intend to try and finish it today so I can pass it on to the next lucky reader.
DH has done an indoor car boot sale this morning, not particularly busy but did make £45 profit which I have already paid off the mortgage. Think we need a charity shop run again though as have inherited items of my mum's that didn't sell but she doesn't want back. We were going to go to the cinema this afternoon but at 2hrs+ I don't think ds would have sat through the whole film and we've saved nearly £40! Half term has been expensive enough but we have filled up the memory bank.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Technically a NSD but has to rescue dh new n@twest account as it went overdrawn due to a £2 dd. I had not realised what date it went out!
£15.72 credited account from tcb so that has been sent to the mortgage. Decorator has been today and painted the utility room including woodwork and the shower room ceiling. Hoping he will start in the bedroom tomorrow so I can get Ds back in there. New blinds have been ordered too.
MOT day tomorrow, I am hoping for a straightforward pass as I don!!!8217;t have time for it to fail! I am usually ahead of the game but MOT expires in a few days! Positive thoughts!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Fingers crossed for youMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0

Well I knew it was bad news by the tone in dh voice when he rang me at lunchtime! Failed on suspension and tracking, £220 on repairs and re-test and it passed.
Ds has a viral cough so hopefully it will clear soon. He!!!8217;s pretty fed up of it now though. Just grateful I was able to get him checked out as I left it too long one year and he developed pneumonia!
Decorating going well, lots of prep work done in hall and bedroom. Decorator wasn!!!8217;t too impressed at my previous efforts and has had to sand down all the doors! Hoping for some colours on the walls tomorrow and to see a big difference. Hopefully we will get chance to put items back in utility room too as everywhere looking a bit too disorganised.
Dd has a lovely gift from her piano teacher today for passing her book, she had some lovely stationery items which I!!!8217;m sure she will enjoy. She!!!8217;s working on her prep pieces and should
Sit her grade 1 in May. It!!!8217;s so lovely to see how she has improved.
10k steps hit the last two days with some extra effort, at least 2 litres of water drunk each day and I am loving being gluten free!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Hit my steps and water goal intake intake. Have been feeling brilliant all day but had stew (that my mum had made) for dinner and think I've been glutened. I've felt so tired since and I'm annoyed at myself for eating eat to avoid it going to waste!
50p on y0ugov and survey wasn't too long so that's got me a bit close to payout.
Really please with the decorating, the lighter grey is on the walls of bedroom and most of hall, stairs and landing. It seemed quite dark at first but has dried to a really lovely shade. Looking forward to seeing even more progress tomorrow. I said to dh this evening just how much I love our house, I'm so glad we stayed and extended rather than moving and making compromises that wouldn't have worked for us and the children.
Countdown to the weekend now and it will be the Easter holidays before we know it, they've only just gone back! Am really enjoying the longer days and getting home during daylight is so much better, seeing daffodils on my way to work also cheers me up. Have a lot of work to do in the garden to get it ready for Spring but it needs to be a lot warmer before I venture out there.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Well done on the steps and water drinking :j. I'm terrible for not drinking enough water. Don't have such problems with coffee and wine:o:o
Glad MOT day is over , they are nail biting aren't they?
PP xxvOriginal mortgage £112,000 . Final payment due August 2027.
Mortgage neutral achieved August 2020 - 7 years early!!!0 -
Gluten is everywhere isn!!!8217;t it. Unless I!!!8217;ve cooked it, I!!!8217;m not eating it, that way I know what!!!8217;s in there. Nothing in my larder has gluten now and there!!!8217;s just a few things left in the freezer that I!!!8217;m using up when others are here (a bag of sausages last night when DD!!!8217;s came for tea)
My hall way is not progressing very fast, the problem of DIY and having elevnty billion other things to do at the same time!"Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0
