Thanks everyone. Rome was brilliant but exhausting! We saw most of what we wanted to but didn!!!8217;t really have any down time. I have definitley fallen in love with Italy. Came home with some Euros so changed them back yesterday and will pay off cc. Rest of deposit for September holiday is due by next week so I need to check the accounts and set a super strict budget. We are off out with the children later for a Chinese buffet but that will be the last of the big spends. Best update is that my mum had a wonderful time with the children and rang me yesterday to say she missed them! <ponders another child free city break>

Haha, I blame the gremlins - seeing them everywhere at the moment. Surplus funds paid off cc and strict budget set for next 11 days. £100 food and fuel (we will keep swapping cars to help the budget) and £100 left in current account which in theory we don't need. £28 spent at Chinese yesterday and £15 on car valet. Should have been £18 but there was a delay so they gave us a discount I didn't expect. Football was called off for dd today so think I'll send the £2 to the mortgage as well as sweeping up any pennies for a tilly tidy.

Car booked in for MOT in a couple of weeks and dh's car due its first one next month so crossing fingers for a smooth pass. All necessary tyres have been replaced so hoping that's enough!

Still feeling exhausted so have started taking a calcium/vit d/magnesium supplement. Blood results were ok but Hb needs to be re-checked although was in normal range. A colleague commented last week that I haven't 'been right' since I had pneumonia and I have to say I agree.

Only working 3 days this week which is most welcome so no need to wish the week away.

  • So glad you had a good break in Rome. It is one of my favourite places in the world. Are you planning the next trip already?
Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D

Hi SSS, Rome is pretty special isn't it. No firm plans for another city break as have two family holidays booked for this year aswell. Wouldn't hurt to have a think about where to go next though. I am definitely enjoying life along the way as we strive for mortgage freedom.

Glad you enjoyed Rome. I've only been there for the day on a cruise and loved it. Would love to go back one day.

Hope the three day week helps you recover your energy levels
