    It definitely makes things easier.

We have a small side extension already which is our downstairs loo and utility. We are extending that out and above to create a 4th bedroom. We will have a bigger utility and also a downstairs shower room. Internally we are knocking the kitchen- diner into existing playroom to create a large family space and small snug.

We have gone through the quotes and the cheapest one just didn't have a price for fitting utility room units or decorating. We would prefer to get those bits done ourselves anyway. Have all paperwork ready to send to the mortgage company (except for one bank statement dh threw away! He will get that sorted Monday and post everything. We also had a letter from water company toto say there are no issues with drains so it looks like things are moving forward with building regs.

Now things are progressing so well we need to come up with a list of jobs to get done over the holidays. Between us we have 3 weeks of annual leave so plenty of chance to get things done. Also took dd for her ears pierced today......£60!!!!!!! then I treated her to a waterstones trip to use up a voucher she had for her birthday. Let's say I spent a bit more than the £1.01 remaining on the voucher!

  • £60?
I guess most of that is indemnity insurance for the company?

Cheapest was £35 which was for 9 carat, the style she wanted was £45 so made sense to pay £60 for 18 carat
I thought it was going to be about £15 :rotfl:

  • Me too but maybe that was when I had mine done in 1989.

I remember a girl telling me in class that her mum didn't speak to her aunt anymore.
    I said "oh dear, why?"

She said "my aunt got my ears pierced when I was two without asking mum".

I don't have a sister but if I did she wouldn't be walking after that.

A friend of mine gave my dd a cup of tea when she was much younger,I wasn't impressed but piercing holes in a toddler is a whole new level! Dd commented that it did hurt but she has wanted it done for months and she was very aware of the whole process. I'm just glad they did double piercing! She was concerned they were going to do it with a cocktail stick until they reassured her that was just to mark it with a pen!

What's double piercing? My DD is quite keen to have these done and I've said she can when she is ready to do it. I want to take her and show her how they do it so she knows exactly what it involved as knowing my DD - she'll be walking around with one ear pierced..

I can't believe it's that much! We did talk about getting it done at the start of the summer holidays just so they could heal without the faff of School!

I'd be fuming with a family member if they did that to my kids as well without me knowing!

Double piercing is just 2 staff doing it at the same time. I think she would have had the second done but she said it hurt more having two together, she can be dramatic though!

We were originally going to wait until the holidays but only 8 days left in school, sports day over and done with and pe kit been sent home. The national chain we went to has a solution it claims heals in 3 weeks rather than the standard 6 ( was included in the £60 cost thankfully!) Dd co-operating well with the cleaning and turning of the earrings.

Her report was outstanding so this was her treat, she got level 6's in her yr 2 SATs (proud mummy).
