Started reading a new book whilst waiting for dd at piano lesson, got about a fifth of the way through a Kat£ 4tkins0n novel but just couldn't get into it properly. As much as I want to read more, life is too short to force yourself to read a book you don't truly enjoy.
Life After Life? I persevered but didn't really enjoy it, I usually love her books :(.

Planning speaking to the neighbours, sounds intriguing and good to be inching forward. Heard nothing more my end, expect Engineer bill will be next though!

Ashame about the book and hope DDs eczema improves. Used to love Brownies and hope she does too. :)

It was 'one good turn' gg, am sure once I worked out who was who it would have been an enjoyable read!

Thanks Ali, just hoping there are no issues. We are literally out of ideas!

Payday and money shuffles done. Took far more brainpower than I anticipated as I had borrowed money from various accounts to keep us in the black!

Will work out what is left later and pay cc bills. We now have another £320 towards next architect bill but am expecting it to be about £2000!!

    Urgh, only Wednesday????

70p Tilly tidy made yesterday evening as well as the standard repayment. Have just updated monthly food/petrol spends and by some kind of miracle we have only spent £286!! Dh didn't need to make curry as per meal plan yesterday as had various other leftovers. I do love extending the meal plan for a day!

Our planning permission sign went up yesterday. Deadline day for respondents is just under 3 weeks away, things 'seem' to be progressing! We also have another builder offering us a quote as they saw our application. We have not heard of them so will just use it for comparison but since they are willing we are not going to turn a quote down!

Dd had a trial at Brownies yesterday. Brown owl suggested coming for a few weeks before signing up to see if she likes it. Dd is a bit like me, knows what she wants and wants to know when she will have her uniform! No further try outs needed! I sat in on the end of the session and it was lovely to see what they were doing. She even earned her first badge!

Right, let's get the rest of the week out of the way. Fed up of chasing my tail!

Spendy day yesterday  dh needed a new tyre (£35) and dd football subscriptions for next term cost another £35. Small food top up shop done £12.39 so at least we can control those spends!

We really do need to be careful with spends for the rest of the month. This is the reality every month so shouldn't be too difficult! :rotfl:

A new builder popped round yesterday and will give us a rough quote. We are still waiting from our preferred builder. However, I checked council website yesterday and applications submitted 4 weeks before ours have had a decision made. I am hoping we will have a decision by the end of March.

ISA's checked and was amazed to see that dd has more than originally invested! I also 'found' an extra £200 in the current account this morning as had realised I had budgeted for childcare twice!

I could do with more days like this!

    Its Friday :jj

Was tempted to have a glass or two of wine this evening but dh has a practical element of a training course tomorrow so not a good idea! Overtime plus a new work skill is a good bonus!
We probably won't fancy it on Saturday as planned so will hopefully overpsynthe £8 we would have spent on wine!

61p Tilly tidy sent from food/petrol account. Its good to be in the position to be using this account rather than the dreaded credit card. I really am amazed at how low our food spends are at the moment. So far this week we have stretched the food budget by 2 days!

Totally behind with the housework, starting to think I NEED a cleaner rather than just wanting one!

  • Morning Cath, your food spends are great. Are your portions smaller, or emptying freezer?

Hope the builders come back with prices soon - it's fab to hear about the journey.

I am off to check my bank accounts. I'd like to find a £200 surprise too :T
