Boxroom now done, fitted furniture looks fab but bed higher than we though so dd still getting used to getting up and down. We need to get a small piece of carpet but i've just laid the underlay back down for now and it looks ok. Also need to tidy up some exposed cable and think i bought the wrong thing from the DIY store.
Returned item to shop so that was £30 back on account, had a browse around but resisted buying anything.
Dropped a couple of items off, one I sold and another I gave to a friend so a bit more decluttering going on.
DH's wage seems to show evidence of his payrise but will know more when he gets his payslip. I paid £310 off CC so hoppefully WIOTW figure will be much improved!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
Hello, hope everyone had an enjoyable Easter. I spent mine at work! Am on days off now though thankfully as I missed the children so much and DH brought them into work each day for a visit
It's hard being a working mummy isn't it.
Done some quick figures and it looks like we have reduced WIOTW significantly this month which is fab. :j
DH wages were fab after his payrise went through! Was definitely worth the 3 months of persevering the MD to recognise the contribution he makes. I really need to make a new SOA as we should have more spare cash each month and I really need to make the most of it and not wonder where it all went!

Busy busy day, Sitting down for the first time since we got up really! Had the day with DD while DS at nursery as we don't get time together anymore. We've baked cakes, changed beds and gone shopping etc and just had lovely quality time. She's having a nap now and I'm having a coffee.
Sold a bed yesterday and that was collected so rearranged DS's room yesterday. It looks fab and so spacious but there are unsightly central heating pipes which run through the bedrooms and through the fitted wardrobes in his room. I was debating whether to have them sunk into the floor but as they run through the wardrobe to our bedroom it might be wiser to box them in? Any thoughts?
Spent far too much in Mr S again  I really need to find a way to spend less or stop going!
Had a discussion with DH about what to do with our extra income. We are waiting to see what happens with TC and the new financial year and go from there as childcare costs are a big part of our outgoings. If we qualify for another year of some help it will be a huge bonus! So Saturday will involve lots of calculations and hopefully a plan. We did reduce our WIOTW figure by around £1300 last month so it shows what can be done.
We also feel really happy with the house at the moment aswell - maybe I will be mortgage free by 40 after all :j:j:jJune 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
I think I would box in the pipes if they're really unsightly ~ make a little shelf for toys?? Alternatively, painting them the same colour as the wall (or whatever is behind them) will help them blend in a bit.
I'll have to do a WIOTW round-up ~ the only problem is I know it will be going UP in the next couple of months so may be a little depressing

I agree, especially as nobody else but you would probably even notice the pipes!Paid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0 -
My two pennorth...
pipes - chasing them into walls is v.v. messy and expensive but result looks good
under floorboards is cheaper but the blighters will damage your floorboards when they pull 'em up so watch out for that if you are ever likely to want exposed floorboards.xxx

just popping on to say hello! that's a great amount to reduce your wiotw figure by, well done!
I would be tempted to get a cost to get the pipes under the floorboards, and a second one to box them in - might help make the decision for you!Mortgage [STRIKE]16/03/2011: £190K 01/01/2017: £107,729.65 [/STRIKE] 01/07/2017: £95,979.89

I'd be tempted to just not look at them
. A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

Hello you are doing very well and I cant believe your littliest is 18 months old.
Well done for all of it xxxDebt Sept 2012 £140,000 end age 65.5 (maximum) four mortgages in total
April 2016 £114,599.83 (3 mortgages now)
Nil debt for some many years now perhaps 8. Need to save for a tent for holiday this year but nil else.
Over paying about £500 per month but fancy £600 so will have to think of some very money saving techniques...0 -
Thanks everyone, we will probably just box in the pipes to tidy them up a little
Yes Pennypincher time is flying, he is such a lovely little boy though and I am so proud of them both. He adores his older sister which is wonderful to see.
Got a few days off now and lots to do!
Have spent a fortune in Mr S again but did buy lots of craft stuff to do with the children so should be some fun afternoons ahead.
WM on and sun shining so hopefully get lots of washing dried and not need to turn heating on again until October - wish me luck!! Also fancy popping to the garden centre but that will mean spending.
Also need to check I've received payment for a couple of things and can get them posted.
Have tried ringing tax credits now have final income details for last tax year but it seems they don't want to speak to you unless you have received renewal pack. I think our payments will stop completely as I had overestimated our income and they probably think we won't qualify anymore. Wanted to rectify that and also see if we were owed backpay! <in my dreams!!> I wanted to sort that out so I could reduce the voucher amount I get from my employer but no such luck.
Hope everyone is well, am hoping to catch up on a few diaries today!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0
