I am sure that if you say that he will soon be around.
Good luck!!
Thank you, I can't see it actively dripping at the moment but we have had good weather so I can't tell if he has been
Gas and elec bill in, I seem to be further in debit so anticipate an increased DD for the gas at least. We are quite careful with the usage and do have two small children so can't be super frugal. However, when I came off fixed deal I didn't secure a new one so will check out cheapest tariff and move onto that. Any tips? I've seen BG advertising something on TV about making sure you're on the best deal with them?? Might be worth looking at their website?? Apart from that, not a clue

Cath, I've just seen a snippet from today's MSE email over there >>> something about a Cheap Energy Club ~ might be worth a read.'A watched potato will never chit'...0

Thanks PP

Well the roofer has completely ignored by phonecalls and messages. I have asked another roofer to repair the guttering which was on completely wrong and was full of water! The quality of the new roof is quite poor too so I am not holding out much hope of a guarantee with the works. I actually think he needs reporting! New roofer only charged me £20 for an hours work for two men which I thought was very fair. At least it is sorted now
Payday this week and I can't wait! Our finances have been in a mess this month and budgeting has gone out of the window so I desperately need to get back on track.
Bonus things to look forward to:- one of my FD regular savers accounts matures next week so I can reduce kitchen credit card debt
- I am owed backpay from work (money expected in May)
- DH has had a £2k a year payrise
- We have overestimated earnings for tax credits by at least £3k so hoping for backpay at some point!
- I get incremental payrise next month (at least £1k a year)

Lots of good news there cath, congrats on the pay rises:DMFW 67 - Finally mortgage free! 💙😁0

Thanks Newgirly, hoping to be a little better off after the budget too. We will be spending more on wine but swings and roundabouts!
Am so relieved the guttering is sorted as we are forecast heavy snow from tonight. We have got off lightly so far!
Mortgage statement has arrived from FD, can't believe it's been a year since I switched! Almost tallies up with my spreadsheet, I would say statement slightly in my favour though.
DS is still extremely clingy. He is almost 18 months an rarely plays independently, I have to be nearby or he gets upset which results in me getting very little done. He's also still not sleeping through and has one night feed so I am always tired. There is just so much I want to get done but don't have the time, opportunity or energy! <closes playroom door!>
Not much money making/saving happening but payday tomoro so hoping to make some plans!June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -

Well we got the snow they forecast! DH ended up working 13 hours on Friday (snow started thurs night) and I had to walk to work on Saturday to do my 12.5 hour shift, managed to drive in Sunday but had to dig a space for my car when got home and only dug my car out this morning! It is starting to thaw now though. Luckily no damage to the property, just a few collapsed bushes in the garden from the weight of the snow.
My FD regular saver account matured today so I have closed that and opened a new one (sadly at a lower interest rate) and transferred the money so that my current account is back in credit which means I am no longer poor from paying for the new roof and guttering! DH account ends next month so that can be paid off one of the interest free CC.
I can't believe how close we are to the end of the month! I honestly don't know where the time goes. Work is busy which makes the weeks fly but it is honestly quite frightening.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0 -
I do sympathise re the clingy baby but as you say, time flies and the phase will pass.
All the best,
SquirrelPaid off mortgage nine years early in 2013. Now picking and choosing our work to fit in with the rest of our lives!
Still thrifty though, after all these years:D0 -
Thanks for popping in Squirrel, your Sig is impressive - what a reduction!!
Currently have a workman here installing the new fitted bedroom furniture. Smallest at nursery so just me and dd so we have got loads done downstairs. Just having a quick coffee before we go on a play date.
I'm really hoping having the box room done makes a difference to the amount of clutter and space we have as we will have 3 usable bedrooms and increased storage. Hopefully some toys can make their way upstairs.
DH mentioned moving again yesterday, why is he planting seeds??? Joking aside I am happy to stay here for the time being whilst we save/overpay etc.
Had a delivery come today from my Next sale shopping and something i'd ordered is far too big so they will be going back - £30 saved. I also sold two items yesterday for £30 each and having a few people interested in dd's old bed so it's all ticking along quite nicely at the moment.
I was very tempted to send the money as an OP but it will have to come off the credit card instead. OP's are very few and far between at the moment.June 2025 - part 1 - £19,145 part 2 - £21,973 Total - £41,118 29 months to go!0
