they're a funny breed HV's I got constantly lectured about what a bad mother i was for putting DD on bottle.

I once left the clinic crying because she told me i'd live to regret stopping BF when my daugher dies of obesity.:o

I agree with the intelligence thing, I have had 2 very alert babies and dd is a bright little girl. Brodie that's awful, what a horrible HV.

Baby is at such a gorgeous stage (ignoring the lack of progression with dropping night feeds!). I lay him on the rug yesterday while we were making Christmas decorations with dd and he was just staring at her in fascination. He usually looks a bit wary of her so think he's warming to her now! I think he enjoys the peace and quiet when she goes to bed at 7pm as he always falls asleep shortly after!

Moneymaking front has gone a bit quiet as current account not looking great until paydays next week. Did some quick calculations though and as DH goes from monthly to weekly pay, most of his final monthly pay is spare! I am going to transfer into savings as we may need to dip into it if my calculations are wrong but DH happy to receive his allowance weekly and I can transfer grocery spends weekly so hopefully it won't be too confusing.

Any money I do acquire for OP's now will be saved to go towards my 2012 challenge. I need to amend this as to increase affordability as with new mortgage deal the term was put over 25 years so monthly payment around £500 but I'm used to paying at least £700 so there would automatically be a £200 OP but true extra OP's would be in addition to this iykwim.

Have £50 in account ready to kickstart next years challenge.

What do you mean? Do you have one of those lovely placid, laidback babies? I'd like one of those. :) Mine are both grumpy ones!
I honestly think I have babies with bad temperament because they're hungry, dd was a different child once I weaned her.

Lulabelle, realised I missed you question. DS is 10 weeks now. :)

I wonder if she's ever got anyone to carry on b/f that way? Or punched in the face?!

Baby sleeping much better but only catnapping in the day so not a lot getting done!

New mortgage with FD applied for and paperwork received, was having problems getting paperwork from payroll but FD have been incredibly helpful. Just need to find time to read through paperwork, collect payslips and bank statements and get sent off. We were cutting it fine with affordability so mortgage was put over 25 years again but hoping I can amend the term at some point without charge or just wait until the end of the 2 year deal. As long as the capital is coming down we are knocking months off anyway.

Sooo not ready for Christmas, still lots of wrapping to do, need to make a big food shopping list and find time to buy it, want to blitz the house and do activities with DD all next week. I always prefer the build up to Christmas than the day itself.

DH is working a lot at the moment so I can't wait for his 4 days off next week - I bet he can't either!

Congrats on being accepted for FD mortgage. Hope all the paperwork goes through OK.

I agree with grateful about the feeding - ignore the HV. Those chart things were compiled from formula fed babies. BF babies have much more natural variation, but all seem to even out by the time they get to 2. If your baby is happy and growing and learning, he's fine. Oh, and he'll get better at sleeping when he's ready. One of mine slept better propped up a bit rather than lying completely flat. They're all individuals, so if you find something that works for you, then go with your instinct and leave the HV out of the loop.

It is really noticeable that formula fed babies tend to have many more dimples that b/f babies... I'm really shocked what bad experiences people have had with health visitors, must be really difficult for first time mothers to deal with a bad hv as they will have no idea what a wide variation 'normal' is and will just be taking them at their word.

My kids are both grumpy can't think where they get it from:rotfl:

DD1 was the worst she would have fed constantly all day every day - 13 months she finally dropped the getting up every two hours to feed through the night.

I'm sure it was the comfort from B/F. Haven't given either of mine formula ever, but I do know mums who swear by it for night feeds. Making them sleep for longer.

Glad you are sorted with FD they are my 1st choice when we remortgage next year. Not sure whether we will earn enough, will pass affordability though. :(
