Thanks everyone, ended up in hospital for about 7 hours. No examination but had some uterine activity. They think my uterus is irritable but I have no idea if the pains are doing anything. Apart from feeling sick and not quite right no other signs. Feel really sick this morning and although I'm meant to go back if pain start again I don't see the point as they won't examine me. Baby is 4/5 engaged (? cause of contractions night before) but is also back to back. I've had about 4 significant pains this morning but will see how I go. Problem is I got to 8cm last time without thinking the pains were too bad. I explained this concern and requested an examination but no such luck.

No money making today in the MF dream, am a little too distracted!

How odd. I would have thought they'd have examined you at least once in the 7 hours you were there if you'd said that you wanted them to. Hope you feel less sick soon.

DS was spine to spine, and I had a long labour - although whether the length of labour was caused by the spine to spine positioning I can't be sure. When I was pregnant with DD I googled about encouraging them to turn round so as not to be spine to spine, and read somewhere about a suggestion of spending time on your hands and knees. I tried it as much as I could fit it into my busy life - mostly while watching TV after DS had gone to bed, kneeling on the floor with a huge cushion between my heels and bum so I could relax and sit back but still be tummy-downwards, if that makes sense. I've no idea whether it made any difference at all, but DD wasn't spine to spine, and the labour was quite a lot shorter, although it probably would have been shorter anyway because of being my second. Make of that what you will.

Try to have a restful day today and don't worry about making money. You have a baby to make, and that's much more important ATM.

Lois I will definitely be tying that, I may even clean the kitchen floor on my hands and knees rather than mopping. Back to back contractions were not nice and it took me ages to get from 5-8cm which was when I arrived at hospital.

Michelle, that's the exact reason they gave me. I have started niggling again this evening and am wondering if things are progressing but if not being examined I don't see the point of going anywhere this evening. At least tomoro my community midwife and antenatal clinic (which have a day case ward) will be about so i coud go in for monitoring. After asking a student midwife friend to interpret notes I am contracting 3-4 times in 10 minutes whilst on mointoring but not sure how significant they are. In all honesty SPD hasn't been too bad since thursday. Had no SPD pains on fri but did have some twinges (maybe the start of things?) went for a huge walk and carried DD quite a bit saturday and thought i would pay for it pain wise but i've been fine in that respect. Don't know if baby engaging has made a difference.

Done a few polls on toluna and a survey but think it crashed at the end - grrrrr.

Hope you are not too uncomfy today. I had back to back and used an exercise ball to do the 'on all fours' exercises and it seemed to help turn him. In fact I was like that throughout the entire labour 'till other events occured.

Thinking of you and wishing you well x

Woke up at 3am convinced the pains were the start of something. Made my way to hospital after sorting out childcare at 7am. Turns out I have a tummy bug which is setting off the pains. Got given iron tablets which i'll have to take as Spatone not working!

I am now going to ignore any niggles until October!

Also, my dream job has some up in the area I really want to be in. Closing date is mid September so I should have had baby in plenty of time for interview if they take 6 weeks to shortlist. Not sure how my maternity leave will go against me (but surely that's easier to keep secret than a pregnancy!) Might do some interview prep before baby arrives in anticipation.

A few surveys attempted this morning. It's DH's birthday today and I feel bad I've made little effort for it, this is the 10th birthday we have had together now though and I just think the novelty wears off!!

Might do my job application later just in case they have lots of applicants and withdraw it! I can't stop thinking about it, it really is the perfect job for me. Will involve night rotation but I don't mind if it means working where I want to. I am going to let current manager know I am applying to see if it will persuade her to give me full time hours on my return or if the closure is imminent which will help my case. Failing that I just need to be the best at interview! I have a good idea of what they will ask though from the time I spend training there.

I don't think I've become lax but I'm def not as obsessive with checking mortgage etc. Just realised that motgage goes out tomoro and I have no idea what my outstanding amount is going to be!

Time to work out next months finances and set some targets. It will be nice if our tax credits go up when baby arrives in line with the estimate I had. I'm sure it said we would go from £10 a week to £80 - I can dream!!!

Right, signature amended as mortgage has cleared and I have had to dip into savings as we have overspent this month. We have bought a few baby bits and a new tv for DD's bedroom. We want to redecorate her room for her birthday and to make her feel a bit special before baby arrives.

Had growth scan yesterday and as thought baby is big, at 35+3 he weighs in at 7lb 2oz but there are concerns over the size of his abdomen as he is on the very top line so I have to have another diabetes test (GTT) this morning. I only got my appetite back yesterday so feel so hungry now fasting for it! I am fed up of going to hospital to be honest especially as I only finished work last week and seem to be living in the place! Have consultant next week, if they don't let me go to term I don't have long left at all! Baby is due a month tomorrow - 31 days!

Have bought my car seat and base (maxi cosi) and really hope they're the right ones! Have got a cabriofix seat and easybase. Does anyone know if Halfords fit for free seats/bases that aren't purchased from there? I saw on their site they fit them for free.

    Hi Cath,
Glad you are on the mend. I wouldn't have thought HalfordS would , but you could try. Our local roadsafety team also fit them for free.
