Yes, I do actually. It's ugly in that it looks dull and has no chip (yes, the chip business is a bit of an image thing as well!). I quite like the Roman/Greek soldier on the front (Alexander the Great?), but other than that it looks like something out of the 80s!

I wonder... what do people think is the best image card (both fashionable card and best looking card)?

Well, my card is the nicest looking. But I also think in the UK the platunum Barclaycard is alright. Actually, the M+S More card is nice too.

If you look at the some of the Amex european websites, like https://www.americanexpress.fr or https://www.americanexpress.it , you'll see some awful designed cards; really terrible...someline like a school kid's done.

Here's a tip (maybe it's been posted before) - I rang customer services to say that I wanted to cancel my BA Amex (it's pretty rubbish) and they made me talk to their 'customer loyalty' department. I thought, here goes the hard sell!!

Anyway, the nice lady asked which aspect of the card i didn't like, because they changed it. I said the ridiculously high APR and they changed it to 3.9% for six months!!

So, it's probably worth giving a go if you're a good customer...

BA Amex cards are amazing if you use them in the right way.

I was considering getting the Amex Travellers Cheque card to try and avoid the commission charge on using a credit card. If I loaded the this Travellers Cheque card from an Amex credit card, would that count as a cash advance?
  • no it doesn't count as a cash advance.

Ofcourse you could use the Amex prepaid Travellers card as a sort of prepaid credit card in your home country. A bit like pre pay cell phones.

    Hi all,

Just been looking at Amex terms and conditions before applying for a Blue card here and at 5.1 it says "The total charge for credit is £90."

I have never seen anything like this before. Anybody know what it means? I hope it does not mean Amex can charge you £90 for providing credit.
    Regards
    erb :)

    It doesn't.
  • Thinking about applying for Amex blue via greasy palm but would prefer a free gift instead such as the digital camera they did a while back. Does anyone have any referels or links for freebies with Amex? Would be much appreciated!

Apologies if posted before, but just got variations of T&Cs letter, effective 01/08/05.

Section 7 (8) We may charge a handling fee in relation to BTs. Any such handling fee will be 2% of the BT or £40 whichever is the lesser.

Open to negotiation ?, I doubt it, just jumping on the bandwagon
