I had a Platinum charge card, and was invited after about 5 years of using the Platinum to have a Centurion. It's a beautiful card, and really turns heads in stores.
Bear in mind that i'm American and live in the States most of the year. I'm not sure if they offer it to Europeans.0 -
Toff
The Centurion sounds like a great card. I'm not sure we have it in Europe - but could you tell us what is looks like and a bit more abut the head turning experiences?0 -

To see what it looks like check it out on a Google picture search. It's just like a platinum card, but black.
There aren't really any downsides to it. If you can't afford to pay the annual fee, then they wouldn't invite you to the card. I can ring them up and they sort things out for me, like my hotels when I travel.
It's swell.0 -

They have Centurion in the UK. In fact the UK was the very first place to have it, even before the US.Charles J0 -
Hi All,
Forgive me is this has already been discussed, but I couldn't find it anywhere and search won't work!
For Amex blue, it states on the website that moneyback is given as follows:
0.5% for aggregate amounts up to £2,000; and
1% for aggregate amounts in access of £2,001
So, based on the fact that aggregate means collected together from different sources and considered as a whole, does this mean then so long as you spened £2,001 in a year, you get 1% back on the entire amount, or confusingly 0.5% on first £2000, then 1% on all after that?
Cheers

I filled in the online application form for the Platinum card last week, wanting to upgrade from Blue (my card anniversary date is this week). The web page produced a custom-page with my name on it for me to print off and send to them at some freepost address in Brighton.
I was told by one of their CS reps that I need to wait three weeks before even being told that my application has been received (let alone accepted).
Is this normal or have I been fed cobblers? Why can't they tell me if my form has been received? I am rather concered at having to send a thick wad of paper like that to an address with 'freepost' put in there at random (the site said it was a freepost address but didn't actually have the word 'freepost' or any similar code number in it). How long does it take to do the 'upgrade' from one card to the other?0 -
It's on the total you spend in the year, so if you spend £1999 you get £9.99/£10 back. Spend £2000 & you get £20!0

Interesting - I just did the same thing this morning - were you logged into your Blue account and applied from there?
I just got a screen saying thanks and we'll get back to you with the account T&Cs - there were two options though - I think maybe you selected the "I have a printer, and I'll print off the T&Cs" option, in which case it makes sense that you will have to send these off...whereas I couldn't be bothered to print them off!0 -

That is good news, thought that was what it meant, just wanted to check. So suffice that you spend min £2000 via Amex per year you get 1% on all of your spend - Suppose the idea with this, from Amex point of view is to get you to spend more!
Daft though, as if you were £1 short of the £2000 limit and spend a £1, you'd gain £19!!!
Cheers
