Hi All,
Darn, foiled again, damn my tyops! Meant to type £9 (in that you'd spent another pound, you'd get another £10 cashback, so overall you'd be £9 up)
Cheers

zcaprd7 wrote:Interesting - I just did the same thing this morning - were you logged into your Blue account and applied from there?
I just got a screen saying thanks and we'll get back to you with the account T&Cs - there were two options though - I think maybe you selected the "I have a printer, and I'll print off the T&Cs" option, in which case it makes sense that you will have to send these off...whereas I couldn't be bothered to print them off!
I have had some more info on this today.
Basically, I was told by Blue customer services to call 0870 606 6906. That's the 'new applications department'. I spoke to a very helpful chap there who said my signature and forms were indeed received last week (so it IS a freepost address, but make sure you put the word "freepost" somewhere on the address bit).
Yes, I did click on the option you said. But found it rather weird not getting even an email to confirm receipt of that huge wad of paper that I sent off to them.
Anyway, they asked me to call back at the end of the week whereby they'll be in a better position to give me a final decision. Sounds all fairly tip-top to me, as I've so far experienced from AmEx.
I'll try and post more details as and when I get more info on this.0 -

As promised, here is the update to this:-
1. I got a letter from AmEx yesterday (Thursday - a day before they asked me to call them - not bad timing that!!) saying that I'd been accepted for the Platinum Credit card and that it will be with me within 14 days. So looks like everything is fine now.
2. I need to call Blue Customer Services in order to get that card cancelled (effectively) and move my Blue credit limit to the Platinum card when it arrives and becomes active, etc. Assuming of course everything on it has been paid and/or moved across to the Platinum.
3. I checked my Blue bill online a short while ago. My Blue cashback was credited to my account following my card anniversary date yesterday. I got something like £92 on an annual spend of >£10K. Not bad at all me thinks!!
Now all I have to do is wait for my card to come through, as well as my MorganStanley Platinum (my back up to AmEx) and my Nationwide card for international use.
Thanks again to everyone here for their advice!0 -
Yay! I love Amex! Got a few pennies short of £200 cashback today from my Blue! Roll on the Platinum application!0

Wow!
No sooner had I posted this reply only to find my sparkling new AmEx Platinum card here and respective welcome pack in today's post!
All I have to do now is wait until my Blue card balance has cleared so that I can close that and move across all my credit limit to the new card.
I must say I am very impressed with AmEx - a week to upgrade to a new card as well as getting it delivered in that week is really impressive.
Well done AmEx and thanks again to all MSEers for your help.0 -
Hi,
I've not seen any mention of the new Lloyds TSB Amex card.
Some details on the Web here:
http://home3.americanexpress.com/corp/pc/2005/lloyds_tsb.asp
I was offered one today by Lloyds - particulars will be sent in the post.
Does anyone have one, know more details?
Thanks.Nice to save.0 -

LloydsTSB sent me some modified terms of my credit card with them. Amongst others, there was something that went along the lines of "we reserve the right to change your card at any time and replace with it anything we choose, which will include Visa, MasterCard or American Express". It certainly stood out and caught my attention straight away. No other bank in the UK issues AmEx cards I think?0 -

Yes, Amex are pretty good at customer services.
But, don't you think the platinum credit card is rather ugly. It's not a patch on the platinum Charge Card.
Personally, I have that black charge card, so I don't care.0 -

Yes, I do actually. It's ugly in that it looks dull and has no chip (yes, the chip business is a bit of an image thing as well!). I quite like the Roman/Greek soldier on the front (Alexander the Great?), but other than that it looks like something out of the 80s!
I wonder... what do people think is the best image card (both fashionable card and best looking card)?0
