MBE v tigs78 chicken and leek pie challenge

I've got a lid:
Leeks are chopped, chicken diced, but tigs is way ahead on the cooking front - I'm still working on the pastry. But it's not a race. The rest of the pastry is chilling again before I start on the base.
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
Can I just ask here, who else cuts their lid out to size before putting it on the pie? And who cuts it to size after putting the lid on top?
I'm one who cuts to size after BTW0 -

I'm panicking about the pastry though, I'm just going to put my pie mix to one side and concentrate on rolling the pastry. I have my rolling pin in the fridge already!0 -
Tigs, your filling looks delicious. Have you tasted for seasoning?
Mr BE, that pastry is perfect!
Need to nip out to collect DS from school footie. Can I have a refill on my tea?:rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -
Stunning lid!!
It couldn't possibly be a race, because your pie is going to be at least twice as big as Tigs'Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -

I never put salt in anything, not beacuase I am particulary healthy but because I don't like it, I have put freshly ground black pepper in though. Havn't tasted it yet...

I roll it out to abuot the right size, then I hold the puie dish up in my left hand and run a sharp knife round to trim the excess.0 -
I love MBE's cooking threads on here and tigs makes a worthy competitor for this challenge as they are both so entertaining :T
Thank you both for the photos, they make it all so much more fun for us mere watchers especially as we will get no pie at the end of this
- unless we make our own of course and after this, I think there will be chicken and leek pie on everyone's menu soon!
Good luck to you both!0
