It's looking very good mrbe, how's the filling coming along?

Slowly! Chicken and leeks cooking together...waaaay too much! :o

Just starting the sauce - 3 shallots in there with the bacon - I'm attacking it slightly differently to tigs...

If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.
  • I take it that once it's been in the oven for 12 mins it's only meant to be ½ cooked? Mine got a bit sweaty under the greaseproof, so took peas out and put in for another minute or so.

I don't quite understand the question. If you are thinking of blind baking it for 24 mins, don't. 13 mins will be plenty.

If you mean is it fully cooked after 12 mins - well actually it probably is. But you'll find it doesn't hurt it to be 'extra cooked' once the filling is in and top is on. Conversely, it may not be fully cooked, but will be once you've put the other stuff in and cooked it.

Does that make it clearer? (and are you getting the idea that cookery - at least, cookery my style - is actually a bit of an inexact science? :p )

    Shallots and Leeks??
    I have plenty of willpower - it's won't power I need.
  • MBE, are you doing the sauce in a separate pan?

Thanks for sharing the pics, it's like watching it on TV!

btw, beautiful ginger cat! Did you know that ginger girls are very rare? I waited ages for one, then gave up and got a ginger boy.

    And the blind-baked pastry base:

Didn't seemed to be fully cooked, but looks fine now. Almost forgot to take it out. :o
