I've only just realised that a real time cooking challenge was underway on the board! Both pies look fab, but MBE I would have to make yours as my boyfriend would eat most of that on his own
It's also making me hungry, luckily I have a lovely joint of beef roasting and just added my roast potatoes to my goose fat0 -

Yes, it looks great! Don't hesitate to use a timer (alarm clock?) if you are prone to forgetting. I've got one built into my oven, and use it all the time - I set things on to cook, wander away and post on MSE, then get interrupted by the 'beep'.
Tigs - your cat looks just like mine! And mine is on my lap atm watching the thread with interestEx board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -

btw, beautiful ginger cat! Did you know that ginger girls are very rare? I waited ages for one, then gave up and got a ginger boy.
Oh Thanks, yes I know they are rare, makes her even more special. She is one in a million :A She is also very old, 18 1/2 to be precise!
Right, back to business...
My pie case also looked a bit dodgy so I took the beans out and shoved it back in for a few minutes.
Pie with mixture in...
Roasties in the oven, they are definitely going to be ready too soon...0 -

QUESTION ALERT
In a previous post JM said to brush the top with milk and egg... Do I mix the two together or brush on seperately???0 -
What temperature should the oven be when the pie finally goes in, and what can I do with about three-more pies-worth of extra filling?
Will it freeze?
If you lend someone a tenner and never see them again, it was probably worth it.0 -
1. Mix them together.
2. 150-175C. Yes, the filling should freeze - the leeks might not be quite as nice (I wouldn't freeze them by themselves) but they should be fine as part of a defrosted melange.Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).0 -
