One way to stay motivated if you're going to pay off the big debt first might be to concentrate on the snowball debt free date.
That way, when you pay off a bit of the loan, rather than feeling as if nothing much has happened as you still have a big debt, hopefully the days to debt free will go down.
Good luck0 -

I agree with you that economically it makes more sense to pay the highest APR first, but mentally i would always try to get rid of the smaller debts first. I've currently only got one big debt, so I don't have that problem, but wishing you luck in your journey.
Thank you that is what I thought but really can't make up my mind. would love to only have 3 debts at Christmas whatever their size.

I've got a job I love.
Love the job, love the hours, love it all.
But today I used an expression that I always use and think I may have offended someone.
I was taking someone to pick up their car from the garage and I called her extension and said ' if you would like to get your bottom down here we can go and get your car'.
Now I wouldn't take offensive to this but Ithink I may have upset the person I was talking too
Don't know what to do.....Pay as much as you can in 2011- £3688.54/£6000Pay as much as you can in 2012 - £3190.96/£6000LBM - August 2010 - £19202.30Current - August 2012 - £11803.68Paid so far - £7398.620 -
Well decided that I will apologise if I upset the person tomorrow at work. And learn to think before I speak.
On a brighter note, I got 2 more £2 coins today so will add them to the pot.
Also 'earnt' £77.89 on ebay so have transferred £75 (leaving the rest for any fees) to my account to pay off a debt.Pay as much as you can in 2011- £3688.54/£6000Pay as much as you can in 2012 - £3190.96/£6000LBM - August 2010 - £19202.30Current - August 2012 - £11803.68Paid so far - £7398.620 -
Well done on the ebay sales!
When we moved last week I found a box if bits I'd put aside for Ebay, really must get on and do that, a few more pounds is just what I need!
I know there's the theory of motivation from paying off the smaller debts but I really would concentrate on paying off the highest APR first, the more money you save on interest the quicker you will be debt-free as more of the money you're paying will be coming off your debt total rather than servicing interest
Hope you managed to get things sorted with your colleagueDebt at LBM Apr 2010 £28,767 Debt free as of Nov 2013 :j0 -
