It might run better if you upgraded your avast to V5, and ditched all that AOL stuff, however until you post your installed ram and commit charge this is guesswork.

    Open notepad

Write anything at all in notepad and save it to your desktop
RIGHT click the .txt file youve just created and select PROPERTIES
Select to OPEN WITH 'Notepad', and SAVE the setting
Try opening the malwarebytes file again

If that fails (it shouldnt if you did it right)
    Go here ~
    C:\Documents and Settings\Username\Application Data\Malwarebytes\Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\Logs\mbam-log-date (time).txt
RIGHT CLICK that file and select OPEN WITH (notepad)

    Done - thanks for that.

    See post 14.

Reboot, wait a couple of minutes for things to settle down, then before opening anything (browser etc), go into task manager, performance, and note Physical memory total, commit charge total, commit charge peak

Unless youve removed it, ALL scans are saved under LOGS when you open malwarebytes

    Please run COMBOFIX
    http://download.bleepingcomputer.com/sUBs/ComboFix.exe
    Shut down your anti virus
Follow the simple instructions it gives
Post the COMPLETE log it creates here (Split into sections if need be) ~ if there are loads of 'SNAPSHOT' pages then leave them out
If it comes up with a RENAMING error then RIGHT click the exe file and RENAME and call it QWERTY (Making the complete file name 'QWERTY.exe') Or SAVE as 'QWERTY' on download
(If no log comes up or you lose it, COMBOFIX.TXT can be found in C drive)
