slow pc should we buy a laptop - advice pls.

    most computers run slow because of all the junk installed on them by accident.

    laptops generally run a bit slower then a similar desktop

    I would disable anything in the startup group and see if that helps, can always be turned back on after. Start > run > msconfig

    eventually managed to do the updates and scanner and removed the 3 things found but I can't post the complete log as it has been saved in the windows picture and fax viewer so nothing can been seen - I am now doing the full scan.

    Can you copy & paste the log file here?

    Just click on the log tab and open the last log that found the 3 problems, highlight all the text and copy it and then paste the results in your next message.

    Malwarebytes logs can be found by opening malwarebytes and going to LOGS (all logfiles should auto open using NOTEPAD)
    Then COPY and PASTE

    My NAS box cost £1400 without the hard drives, although I did get the 1GB memory upgrade for that money.

    How long does the FULL SCAN take as so far it has taken 4 hours and 35 minutes?
