    Hi all :j

wammy - thanks for that link.........some lovely stuff on there

Ginger - thanks for the link ........will that stuff be ok to cover some recipe cards I've printed out ? Got confused about the price though so better check it out again. I googled for self laminating sheets yesterday and some of them were really expensive:eek:

Got wrapping today :T Already done son no.2 stuff and his girlfriends - waiting for dvd to arrive before I can finish off son no.2 -and the recipe cards are for his girlfriend.
Still, got foster daughters done and the young girl who cleans for me.............just need to get a gift bag for their respective OH's........can't get it all in a shoe box and get the lid on and don't think they're the sort of chaps who'd appreciate a wicker basket with cellophane..............lol
Just waiting for OH now to do the fudge kebabs that he now says should have marshmallows and turkish delight on them..............lol Plus do the 'brownie mix'.................got all the stuff in the house so my own fault it's not done...........lol
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

    Hi Mary-op,

It covers papers, fabrics etc, so should be good for recipe cards and half a metre for £1.75 is very MSE i think :D
It's really good and i haven't seen it anywhere else other than the states which is expensive to get sent over here,
Even to buy clear vinyl, oil clothes etc are expensive so i just use it on my fancy fabrics to turn them into oilcloth and papers,

*suggestion- If your making a notebook, journal, scrapbook etc, why not put a photo or image in between your fabric/paper and the laminate? so you have a secure picture journal? (does this even make sense lol :rotfl::rotfl: 2.12 hours sleep from head hitting pillow, to washing morning dishes so not functioning really well today) x

ginger - I was thinking of ironing over brown paper or something like that. All I want to do is cover the recipe cards really.
    Think I'll order some.

Did you stitch it inside out and then turn it the right way? :rotfl: you shouldn't see the stitiching that way hunny? if your seeing the stitches still try pulling each stitch a little tighter xxx

Oooh me too :) Pretty please!

Ladies, I'm more than happy to share - the receipe for the Baileys and white choc fudge slab is quite easy:

    500g golden granulated sugar
    500ml whipping cream
    50ml Baileys
    150g white chocolate
    1. Butter and line a 22cm x 22cm tin, leaving a small overhang. Put sugar, cream and Baileys in a large pan and, stirring slowly, bring it to a simmer. Make sure the sugar is dissolved (it will stop feeling grainy on the base of the pan), then turn the heat up to a rolling boil.
    2. Adjust the heat until the mixture bubbles without getting too near the top of the pan. Keep bubbling, stirring occasionally, until a small amount of mixture dropped into a glass of cold water will form a soft ball that you can pick up on the end of a teaspoon (or use a sugar thermometer to get to right temp).
    3. At this stage, the bubbles will have gone from being large and unruly to smaller and more even. Stir in the chocolate and pour the mixture into the tin. Cool and cut.
I always double up on the baileys as the receipe above only gives a slight hint of it and i like mine to taste a little stronger  once the slab is solid it's hard to cut as it's quite a crumbly fudge so I leave mine in a whole slab and wrap, or use ice-cube trays to make little squares.

    Receipe for melting middle truffles:

1/2 450g/1lb jar dulce de leche caramel toffee (supermarket own toffee/caramel sauce is fine too!)
100g dark chocolate (70% cocoa), chopped
    2 x 200g/7oz bars milk chocolate, chopped
    142ml pot double cream
    1 tsp vanilla extract
about 85g/3oz cocoa powder, to coat/dust
    1. Make the middles first. Heat the Dulce de Leche in a pan for 1 min until warmed and runny, then stir in the chopped dark chocolate and leave to melt. Stir until smooth. Cover a dinner plate with cling film, oil the cling film well, then tip the mix onto it. Cool, then freeze for 2 hrs or until very firm.
    2. Put the milk chocolate into a bowl. Bring the cream to the boil in another pan, then pour it over the chocolate. Leave for 2 mins, then add the vanilla and stir until smooth. Cool, then chill until set.
    3. Peel the caramel from the cling film, then snip into thumbnail-size pieces; wet kitchen scissors work best. Spread cocoa powder over a large baking tray. Take a heaped tsp of the truffle mix then, with cocoa-dusted hands, poke in a caramel chunk. Squash the mix around the caramel to seal, then roll into a ball. Put onto the tray, then shake to coat in the cocoa. Repeat with the rest of the mix, then freeze, or chill if making less than 3 days ahead.
I find that this receipe makes too much of the 'middle' bit of the truffle, so to avoid waste you can half that part of the receipe (Dulce de Leche and the chopped dark chocolate)... or double up the other ingredients and make a double batch!!! :rotfl:

    Enjoy!!!

Thanks for that link to the fabric site- great selection. How are you today? Hope the arthritis ain't too bad.

Have been head down getting on with projects which have to be finished including a bag for my sister in law made from denim and lined with material from a cotton apron.- all from the charity shop. Finished this yesterday.

Only trouble is my singer sewing machine although threaded with a leather needle kept breaking the thread when sewing the lining , straps and outer bag together. Seems hard put to cope with denim and as I intend to do a lot of this work I've been thinking I may need to buy a sturdier machine.

My existing machine is fairly basic does zig zag and freearm sewing, has been recently serviced. I probably should go over to the sewing room thread BUT nearly 300 pages to read and time is short.

Does anyone have any ideas, thoughts or experience sewing denim, especially making new items from old jeans and skirts?!
    Thanks girls.
