ginger - super makes........:T
Notice at the bottom of your post you did a fabric covered journal for this year........do you have a tutorial on how to do it ? Someone on 'flying pigs' thread was asking yesterday. I've done them myself but am rubbish at trying to explain how to do it.I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

I took the example from here
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NykXvwFpqSU&feature=PlayList&p=5306DE23D6CF1FFF&playnext_from=PL&playnext=1&index=47
I just tied the ribbon and folded it over and stuck the ends together with fabric glue, held together with a pin.
I got the flannels from the poundshop, 5 for a quid
I got the felt for the ears from there as well. and the ribbon came off of socks I had bought to make sock monkeys.
I made a template for the ears out of paper to make sure it fitted through the length of the flannel. I tied it with thread to match the flannel rather than clear bands.
The nose is a little triangle cut from felt and I glued that to a bit of card and pushed in the space in the flannel.

I have been wondering this myself?
And where you get your sample materials from?
Any help on where to get nice card from? I wanted to make origami boxes with a Black bottom, but some nice patterned paper as the lid. These are for my homemade chocolates. :TSaving 2.00 coinsGrocerys set to 40.00 pwBeing Thrifty0 -

I'm sure i have a tutorial somewhere on this thread, let me search back and link back to it hunny,
I got those materials for the slippers, quilt etc, from Etsy, the slippers are Michael Miller dots and the Quilt is Robert kauffman and plain polyester and the fleecey backing was one of those £2.99 bed fleeces from Primark (so much cheaper than buying a metre of fleece)
I always buy my crafty stock from the link below, their scrapbooking papers (actually card) are a great weight for making origami things and they are super cheap too, i can honestly say i've had no problems with themand they normally do offers such as order today and recieve free see-d's alphabet stamps (i've got 2 sets now, one of them was from just spending £5 on scrapbooking things :T) they take paypal too! xxx

the fabric journal tutorial can be found at post 184, Although i am terrible at describing it in all honesty,
~Basically, you lay your journal down open ontop of your chosen fabric.
~Draw around the book shape and add about another cm or so for folding.
~Cut out your fabric
~again lay the book open ontop of the fabric,
~snip triangles of each edge of the fabric to make it easier to cover
~Put glue on the front page down the side and fold the fabric over,(hold for a few seconds)
now to do the back page you need to lift the left page so it is straight up as though your going to close the book. (otherwise the fabric will buckle)
~Glue along the right side of the inside of the right cover and fold the fabric over while still holding the left page up.
close the book to check it's not too tight or pulling the cover.
~Make a small snip in the fabric from the outer edge to the middle spine at the top and bottom.
~Glue the rest of the edges on the front cover and the same for the back (like wrapping a present)
~glue in a piece of ribbon horizontally, on the back and front journal covers, glue it horizontally half way down the page ~(to tie the book closed)
~once thats glued, cover the front in glue and then press the first paper page down onto it, (covers the fabric rough edges) smooth it out so no air bubbles warp it.
~Do the same for the back.
~tie the two ribbons together to close.
Let me know if this is too confusing or if your brave enough to try making the whole journal from scratch using bookbindingx

I love charity shops too and have got loads of freebies from bemz, alot of the little squares in that quilt i made where from bemz and also another freebie (the kiddies red car, the dots, the flags etc all free)
Mad about cards are really great, they add so many new items for 50p and £1 every few days, i just bought a huge box of goodies in their 25p sale (now finished) all brand names and super quick.
I got the brads, papers, notelets, punches, stamps, inks, valentine peel off's (gorgeous), words, rub ons, loads of buttons! (love buttons) magazines (with freebies on for 25p) jewellery supplies etc. :rotfl:
I also use http://www.everycraftsapound.co.uk/ for their laura ashley items and laurence lewellyn bowen and their ribbons. xxx:TBlogger / Money SaverMake £2022 in 2022 Challenge - Accepted0 -

I don't but will make a photo tutorial tonight as i need to cover another one anyways hunny,
basically when your book is open flat, you cut 2 bits of ribbon.
On each of the covers (front and back covers) you attach one of the bits of ribbon,
halfway down the cover you stick the ribbon so that the ribbon sticks out horizonatally off the page, and the same on the back page so when the book is closed the 2 ribbons come together to tie like a shoe lace. (or like a secret diary) the ribbon would tie where a padlock would be)
I'm always up at stupid oclock so will upload it later.Blogger / Money SaverMake £2022 in 2022 Challenge - Accepted0 -
Just dragged the ones out I did for last year and this year.............I'd got a spiral bound notebook and tied some ribbon at the top of the spiral bit then I used that as a bookmark then I used a different ribbon to tie it to stop it coming open -just tied that fairly tight so it just slipped on and off.
Be interesting to see how to do it another way though I think I did one for someone where the ribbon was stuck to the book back and front covers leaving enough to tie it up where it opens (if that makes sense)
Just found another on the shelf I was going to use as a garden journal for this year but used another instead...........thats a solid book as opposed to spiral and haven't a clue how I'll do a bookmark for that unless I stick ribbon to the inside of the back cover..I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !
