September 2010 Grocery Challenge

Hi all
I'd like to join the September challenge too, my husband has recently been made redundant so need to tighten the purse strings!
Can you please put me down for £250 this is for 2 adults, 1 toddler and 1 cat to include all groceries, toiletries and cleaning stuff.
I've been shopping today and have spent £2,95 in Aldi and £19.02 in Tesco.
Cheers0 -
Had my first Sept spend today- £5 on crisps, pasta salad, diet coke and deodorant (which I was really annoyed to find in Bo*ts afterwards for 10p cheaper than at Mr S.. how can I be so annoyed about 10p lol?!)
I've also decided to decrease my budget to £65 per week rather than £70 (baby steps!) so my target now is £260 for the month.Mortgage£148,725 Student loan£13,050 HSBC loan£12,221

Hello all newbies
GOOD LUCK for the September challenge everyone
I always check My$upermarket & £idl online before going shopping. If what I need is cheaper in Te$co or £ild, I walk there and get it, if it's not, it gets added to my online A$da order. I never knowingly pay more for anything
Awful start to the month! For reasons previously explained, I have to buy 5 tins of $limfast a month for daughter totalling £30
Eased myself in gently with just a couple of tins today and a few other things + the obligatory milk bringing my day 1 spend to £29.44
Oh and I did also buy 6 packs of Sharwoods Egg Noddles, on offer in Te$co. I usually by the big packs that contain 2 x 375g, but Te$cos have the single 375g packs that are usually £1.27 per pack on an offer of 3 for £3, which makes them cheaper than the large packs, so I got 6Plus the Pizza that DSS has a passion for are on offer at a £1, so I got 4 of those also - so it's not quite as bad as it seems.
I just wish I could have a few spend days of 93p like majjak and £1.87 like Long tall Sally, or even a couple would be nice!

They use about 1.5p an hour electricity vs about 25 - 30p for an oven (according to my OWL) so you should get the cost back quite soon and it does encourage you to make more inexpensive meals with cheaper cuts as well as making stock from eg chicken bones which stretches out another meal. Plus it makes you feel all 'domestic goddessy' and like a proper housewife
. Well, it works for me! Loads of recipes for sc on these forums too. Have fun!
Thank you! Def going to get one, I've seen the large Morphy Richards one for £30 which seems a fairly decent buy.
I'm really excited about this grocery challenge - its all I've been able to think about all day - sad old me!!0 -

nearly picked some up on my way home, but DS has given up eating the muffins I normally use them forCheryl0 -
Hopefully having a NSD tomorrow, as I don't intend on going out. So may stay where I am for the day, and bake some hobnobs from a recipie over on the old style board.
Also time to clean kitchen, and try and fix washer which has packed up.
Have bought a few extra bits, like food bags, a baking tray, oil, dog food etc, so another £11.37 spent. BUT I have worked out carefully that the food we have in should last us until the 17 with very careful meal planning for dd and I.September Grocery Challenge: £200 (28th Aug - 30th Sept)
