My first spend of the month is £14.07 between Lidl and Poundland, got a few bits to get at Aldi tomorrow but hopefully I won't spend too much.

  • Have just got another £10 Tesco gift card from surveys; that makes £50 towards the Cword (sorry if it is too early to mention) also need one more survey on yougov for £50. Normally these have just disappeared into (previously) bottomless pit of household spending but thanks to all the support, tips and ideas I now feel so much more in control and am pleased to say am finding it easier to control spending. Trying to keep cc below £200 and aiming, eventually for £150. Thanks everyone; couldn't do it without you.xxxxxxxxxx

Thank you for the great ideas Hippee ........ very much appreciated . Will be giving them both a bash next time I shop :D.

You're welcome :) and I forgot to say, that when I make cookies/brownies/rice krispie/cornflake cakes I use Te$co Value Chocolate (usually plain, but that's personal preference) 'cos it's only 30p!!
I don't mean the value cooking chocolate, I mean the value eating chocolate that's with other bars of chocolate in the confectionery part of the store ;)

I've also been reading on another part of the forum that people have been trying Te$co Value Cocoa Powder and that it's not half bad, so I might give that a shot.
I've already downbranded to Te$co own brand from C@dbury Bournville and found that fine. Slighty different colour and perhaps not quite as much depth of flavour, but nothing to write home about, but a big difference in price, and I get through a lot of cocoa.

First day of the month, and £10.90 of my budget gone already  Hoping not to spend anymore until at least Monday....
Mind, that's not bad considering what I've spent in total today :o

As I left work I picked up a pack of deli silverside (200g - [strike]£2.98[/strike] 75p) and a pack of deli Yorkshire Ham (365g - [strike]£4.71[/strike] £1.49) - total £2.30 after pennies and staff discount dropped into sealed pot

Then round to A!di - punnet of nectarines, bag of potatoes, cucumber and a loaf of bread - £1.90 (incl pennies)

Had to go and collect DS's push bike from H@lfords (been in for repairs at his expense), so hit a few other stores while out in the car and on the way

Mr T - value ham (x3 small packs), mini cheddars (100% free, so £1.59 for 14 packs and one of my faves :D), milk (had coupon for 75p off if spending > £2 on milk - still slightly dearer than A!di, but it meant DS could have f/fat while I've got skimmed instead of getting 2 f/fat and me using l/life), and a tub of finest Moroccan style Couscous which I shall try for lunch tomorrow ([strike]£1[/strike] 20p) - total £6.70 (with value of voucher added to sealed pot funds)
Also filled my fuel tank while here as was running on not much more than fumes (not part of GC, £47)

Mr A - two pairs of trousers for work (not part of GC, £10), and DS got several stationary bits and computer accessories he wants/needs for Uni (his bill)

Arg0s - new combi oven (£75 totally unplanned and unexpected bill !!!), as mine blew between breakfast Mon & breakfast Tues - think it must have been linked to the power outage our area suffered on Monday night, but can't prove it  Fortunately this also isn't part of my GC budget ;)

Almost had a NSD but just spent £64 on Ocado with 20% off, saved about £14, checked it on my supermarket as suggested elsewhere and did save money. Honest. Even ordered delivery at 11pm tomorrow so only £1.99. They usually come a bit early so it's a bargain compared to £6 at some times. Right, off to bed, back to school for mine tomorrow, electric cattle prod at the ready ;)
  • Hi Mrs Mac.
Please will you put me down for £150.00 for this month.

    Declaring at £139.32 for August.

    Thanks

Well I DID manage my NSD yesterday and SHOULD only need to nip up to corner shop (which is a little expensive but for some reason I never get any more than I need in there - I literally go in and get milk and leave :D) for milk and our local paper as its that time of the week.

Hope you all have a good day and I will be back to update once I've been to the shop :o
    Emma

    Aug GC - £88.17/£130
NSD - target 18 days, so far 5!!
  • Hey guys,

    Here I am :)
My new grocery month started yesterday and my budget for this month is going to be 240, I thought at first to cut it down to 210 but because my son is starting school I am not sure how its going to be with lunches and everything, still trying to work that bit out hehehehe, so I will add an extra 30 there, just in case. Then my weekly budget is 60.00 a week lol which I already went over yesterday by 2.00 lol nevermind, next week should be less because I dont have the expensive cleaning stuff and nappies to buy :)
I am going to update my sig in a bit, feeling confident again and I hope I can save 300 by the end of this month.. yieepeeee :) provided nothing happens, again *touch wood*.
Have a lovely day everyone :)
    xxxx
