  • Hi

Please can you put me down for : £320 for September.
  • Hello All

Right firstly I did Mr S last night a night early but we are busy tonight upon everyone saying it was cheaper than MR T... plus I had a £5 off voucher. We did not find it cheaper even though there was a birthday presie in the shop.. I did find some Whoopsies though in the fruit and veg etc which was pleased with else it would have cost even more. Also did online shop for when we come back off holiday : ) and did it with Asda and used there free delivery.. was quite impressed as ordered alot as we will miss a week shop when away. It was less then Mr S. Have updated my signature though with last nights and the one in advance. Now must not buy anything else between now and when we go on hols... : ) Wish me luck.

  • Spent about £22 today (well OH did). This was £4.70 on the market on F & v & cobs, £8 in Farm Foods on milk, toilet rolls, Highlites Hot Chocolate and chocolate bars and £10ish in Co Op on a joint of pork for Sunday, salad cream, rice crispies, whoopsied meringue nests and cream to have with strawberries tonight. Still need to get some bits from Mr T or Mr S but OH has just shown me the bank balance so might have another think on them. As Spiggle(I think!) says "Do you need them or do you want them?!

Well second NSD today.Did the school run and came home .had a walk in the park this afternoon with a bottle and my own OJ in it so I still have my September food purse money intact.
Tomorrow I have the school run again and then a visit to my lymphodema therapist so no shops around to tempt me as he lives in the back of beyond in a tiny village.I shall come straight home again afterwards and on Saturday I am out for the day at my friends in Dartford for both lunch and dinner.I shall probably take her a HM cake when I go. We normally sit and jaw and knit for most of the day ,especially since we have both been away during August so hopefully another NSD then. Sunday I go to my youngest DDs for dinner late afternoon so yet another NSD so it maybe next Monday at least before I stick my nose in a shop and then it will only be for what's really essential.I am definitely motivated this month, I just had a serch in my freezer and found some sliced bread that will do me for the next couple of days at least.
I have lots of F&V still in the fridge and bowls, tonight I have dug out a steak slice from the freezer which I will have with a jacket potato and some salad and one of my bargain 20p Activa yoghurts that I got from Sainsbobs the other day.
There was a chap on the wireless yesterday lunchtime going on about NSDs and I think he was an american (Alvin Hall). The interviewer was speaking to him as though he had just come up with a great idea (You & Yours I think it was) I was yelling at the wireless ,'But we are all doing that already '
memo to oneself 'Stop shouting at the wireless' :):):)

You're very welcome majjak. I still marvel at the support available on this thread and just want to pass on what we've learnt. I could've also put don't ever be afraid to ask something - as one of my old profs used to say the only stupid question is the one you didn't ask! :D

Hi Want2Bdebtfree, MrS has been much cheaper for me when I've used My Supermarket to compare. It may be that we buy different things and the difference is in that. And Asda will almost always be cheaper than the others but I don't like their stuff. That's purely a personal choice. ;)
... As Spiggle(I think!) says "Do you need them or do you want them?!

I'm guilty as charged Longtallsally! :rotfl:

Been up to town and bought the cat food and a couple of little bits. So another £19.91 to add to the sig in a minute.

Not sure I've said this in September but good luck to everyone who is setting themselves the challenge. Whether on target or not, you can bet that your spend will be lower for the watching.

    Take care,

  • Spent £120 at Mr T today (out of a budget of £160 that's quite scary!!) but this is my huge monthly shop inc. all toiletries, cleaning stuff, tinned + packet stuff, meat, frozen food etc for the month + most of the cat food, so I wont have to spend too much more now :o I'm trialling 1 big monthly shop and 3 small weekly top-up shops...it worked well last month :)

treated myself to salmon today (6 fillets for £7 in freezer at MrT!) so we are having salmon, new potatoes + leeks tonight. away for the next 3 days so other people will be feeding us ;)
    Sept GC lost track/£160 :(

    Oct GC /£160

  • Thanks for all that info Spiggle, it is most helpful for us newbies.

Well, day 4 of meal planning is going well. I've had my first NSD today and it's strangely satisfying!

On monday I made spag bol using MrS cheap mince and did it in the slow cooker. With the pasta for it, I didn't use a sauce, but melted some butter and garlic, and covered the pasta. DD devoured it, and asked if I could do it again!
Tuesday's she visits her grandparents, so I had jacket pot with spag bol, nice and filling.
Yesterday was jacket pots with tuna & HM garlic mayo, went down very well with DD.
Today we had HM wedges, sausages and peas. She enjoyed to HM wedges as they weren't too spicy for her!

So far, so good. I will be making some of those Twinks Hobnobs over the weekend (prob Sat) as I have 2 appointments tomorrow so will be tricky to find the time inbetween.
    September Grocery Challenge: £200 (28th Aug - 30th Sept)
