September 2010 Grocery Challenge

Hi again,
I've had my regular Dig In email from the Beeb and they have a link to a recipe for courgette muffins (savoury). They sound delish and I'm sure that any cheese could be used to replace Gruyere. If you're interested it can be found here.
Hope that may be of interest to those who have been far more sensible than me with their HG courgettes (I ate them) and have frozen/stored them for later use. I'm hoping I may still get a couple more and may then try the recipe myself.
Take care,
Spigs
P.S. Anyone spotted the distraction tactics I'm using at the moment?!?! :rotfl:Mortgage Free October 2013 :T0 -
Darn darn darn  after my sensible start to the day I ended up buying loads more bits this afternoon!! Both mum and I work in Mr T and I always go down to meet her from work on a Thursday. I used this opperchansity (:D) to buy some more butter (for toast) and other butter (for baking) but decided to top up the fruit bowl while I was there (DS is a little fruit bat and the bowl is decidedly empty just now) to the tune of.............£6.89

Hi everyone, haven't had chance to add up my August total yet, but can you put us down for £140 please for September - about time we started lowering it a bit!
Thanks for the thread, will try and post a bit more this month
EDIT: Just done my sums, and we spent a grand total of £105.60 in August!! Helped by a weekend away (seperate budget) and lots of fresh veg from the garden, hindered by a very hungry stepson staying for 2 weeks in the holidays.Trying to jump back onto the moneysaving wagon .... :cool:0 -
hi everyone,
loving reading this thread,
no spend for me today - was very chuffed with myself, went to post some ebay items and didnt go anywhere near the shop,
usually quite easy to pop in the bakers for a treat or something but didnt bother today knowing that tomorrow i`ll go to mrT`s for a weekly shop,
i will report back tomorrow with how i get on!
i wanted to ask Flat Eric or anyone else what kind of cut do you use for beef welington? ive never made it before but would love to try,
hope everyone`s doing well0 -
Spent £43.61 yesterday - didn't get the meal plan done in advance so bought staple items I knew we needed and things I know I can make good meals out of cheaply. There is at least two weeks' worth of meat included as I used the 3 for £10 deal and got two large packs of mince and a chicken. I also topped up the storecupboard where I stash some of the things I put in lunchboxes occasionally - they have to be hidden away!December GC: £3500
