Hippeee, the 93p was before my online Mr A delivery came this evening :rotfl:, total is now £56.11 which is a whole lot better than the £100s I've been spending  Mind you, cupboard is all green and white (Smart price :p :rotfl:). Bit of a case of suck it and see with what their basics range is like, if we don't like something we'll re-think if the situation arises. ;)

Oh right :rotfl: that's ok then ;) and well done you on cutting down :T

There's nowt wrong with Smart Price especially, Ive found, when it comes to anything to do with baking - just about everything I use in baking (bar sugar) is Smart Price. And like you say, it's a case of suck it and see.

Re the kids snacking, if you look in the recipe index on the first page of this thread, Twinks Hobnobs and Weetabix Brownies are extremely cheap to make and taste divine :) The Weetabix Brownies can be own brand/value, but even if you cost them up using Weetabix they work out cheap, and I bet the kids will love them :)

Arrrghhh - if that was me and me cuppa in the morning, there'd be no living with me, so I sympathise!.......on a positive note though, I've read more than one post on here singing the praises of value conditioner - Id like to try it, but the te$co near me doesn't stock it :(

  • Hi all

Can you please put me down for £160 again this month. Overspent in august by £25 so need to really try for September!

Today first spend of the month. £17 at the coop on some basics & £4 at wilkinson on cleaning stuff. Going to do my best to avoid shops until I stock up on sunday. Got plenty in the freezer so should be okay.

    Good luck everyone

Please put me down for £400 for September Mrs M. As I reported in the August challenge I was 45p under - hope to do better this month, though we still have DD1 here for another month. My challenge runs from 31st Aug to 30th Sept. I have already taken delivery of a 'dry goods' list from Sainsbury's and will be doing the meat and F&V shop tomorrow. I have reduced the budget for this month a bit and hope i can stick to it. Good luck everyone.

  • Hi there, can I join - have fallen off the bandwagon completely lately and i need to get back in control of our finances. Can you put me down for £200 as this is really all I can spare, though it has been more at £260 that I have been spending 2 adults and one child. Good luck everyone
    I'm not a failure if I don't make it, I'm a success because I :tried!

Thank you for the great ideas Hippee ........ very much appreciated . Will be giving them both a bash next time I shop :D.

Just out of interest I went on the Mr A price guarantee thingy and it came out a couple of quid cheaper than the other stores :money:. I've previously used both Mr T and Mr S - no probs with either it's just that I never realised Mr A delivered where we are. Nearest one to us is over 20 miles away , hence the online delivery and not a visit to a store.

Right, bed is calling, kiddy winks back at school tomorrow so an early start for moi :( ....... looks like I'm back to making the tea/coffee in the mornings :undecided.
