Paid off a HUGE amount off my credit card today so it's even more important that I stick closely to the challenge this month! I've got a lot of things in the freezer, so I'm going to try and avoid the big supermarkets and get my things from the small Mr S, greengrocers, and Indian supermarkets for a while until it's cleared a bit. I have a triple Nectar points voucher when you spend £30 which needs to be used by this Sunday, so if I go to the big Mr S I won't be able to resist using it. It's false economy really - 3p for every £1 spent doesn't justify the overspend but I can't help myself! :o

Small spend of £1.09 today for potatoes - updated signature.

First spend of the month today (not sure if that bodes well or not !) :o £0.93 on some potatoes and carrots for our s/c beef stew & dumplings tonight.

I've also done an online shop (Mr A) and i've spent approx £50 but will update sig once I know definite amount when delivered. I'm pretty sure I have enough for a week from the online shop which I'm really pleased about, I was spending about £120 a week previously :o:o:o :eek:.

  • Ekk, it seems as if my lovely but very bad with money fiance has struck again. He was supposed to be putting money aside for his bike insurance but hasn't been . This means that we will be living out of the freezer and cupboards as much as possible this month to help as it is due this month and I'd rather not go into the savings more than we need to.

So because of that we are going to be having the very low but needed budget of £30 for the month for both of us and 2 chinchillas. Month goes from the 1st to the 30th. The chinchillas have enough sand, food, hay etc for the month so they aren't a problem so it's '£30' for me and my fiance really this month. Shouldn't be too bad as our freezer is full, our cupboards are well stocked, we have fresh food around for the time being and we have baked potaotoes as we bought a sack of them last month (half the sack is left!). All in all we should be okay - famous last words I know!
I am a vegan woman. My OH is a lovely omni guy :D
  • Went shopping this morning and bought: Large joint of Topside £21.09, Fabric freshener 99p, bottle of Pepsi £1 and cakes (we have a visitor this afternoon) £3.94. Cakes and cola were not necessary. Kitchen is not up to my standard and I need to spend the weekend scrubbing it. As for cola can anybody give me advice about kicking the habit?
Total spend £27.02. Off to update signature.

  • Well I think that's my budget blown before I've even started - OH has just asked me to get two bottles of whisky next time I go to the shop as thankyous for folk who've helped him out or lent him tools etc.

    Hello

A little late but can I please set my September budget at £240 for the calendar month.

It’s going to be tricky given the plans for the month but after my runaway August spend (too embarrassed to repeat it here :o) I’ve got to try. Hoping that returning to routine of school will help and I’m going to stocktake and mealplan while I’m still feeling bad about August. I have reasonable stocks in the freezer other than chicken I think, enough petfood for the month having doubled up Mr T vouchers and an AF delivery due probably Friday to help the storecupboard.

Off to catch up on the thread and update sig. Good luck everyone!

Hi, newbie here! I'd like to join this challenge please. I have no idea how much I spend in the supermarket so I've plucked a figure of £250 out of the air for myself, DH and two cats.

I'm actually a bit early for this month's challenge as I get paid on the 20th but I hope you won't hold that against me :o I have my £250 in a seperate purse and I am keeping food receipts in there too. So far I have spent £62.11.

edit - I have a recipe for lovely banana flapjack that's great for using up bananas that are turning mushy and you can fling all sorts of nuts, seeds, fruit, whatever into it. I'll type it up tonight if anyone's interested :)

Can you put me down for £40 for September please :)
Just feeding myself at Uni, it would be higher but I'm away for a week this month.
I started off last year really well at £40pm but it crept up to £80 by the end!
I'm keeping all my spends and lists in one book now, so I can keep track of exactly what I'm spending and see how low I can go.

My September spend started yesterday really, as I spent £6 on pollock, lean mince and sausages.
Living cheap in central London :rotfl:
