  • I know who went to B-b-B. She's going to have to fight for it, as the manager apparently was really nasty to her. She ended up taking a full refund on the package (leaving said package there) and will be taking it up with CS tomorrow.

wow! sorry to hear that, that is why I did not want to try, it is my local and i HAVE to go there, had aggro last wek over and did not want the same there.

She must stand firm and phone HO, she will get the full R&R if she does, if the manager was horrible she should make a complaint, I wish her luck with it anyway :)

    Mobile poster issue..
Right dont know if anyone has remembered the issue about the poster which is out of date. £20 off a handset when bout with £20 airtime" poster out of date on the 17/09/06..bought two different mobiles on 20/9/06. Duty manager wouldnt give a r&r and Adrian russell wouldn't. After leaving the store i went to another branch and he asaid "yes it is a r&r". so next morning spoke to that adrain and he said "nope". few hours later after studying the poster I notice the * is only on the second line which states "£10 off handsets with £10 of airtime" so the top line doesnt have a * so dont think this poster did run out on the 17th as poster was still up for the top line!
I rung Cusotmer service and explained it to a guy called Andrew and he totally agreed with me..even spoke to his section leader and he agreed..said he would give the branch a call and give me a call back.. he rung me back within a minute for more details. Then promised another fone call back within half hour.. 2days later still no call and I cant get hold of this Andrew as there are 13 of them he work there. Here's the twist...I recorded all the calls.. his return call on my mobile and the first call i made to him. where do I stand now?? Got HO saying "No" and got this mysterious Andrew and section leader saying "yes" which i have recorded.

Do you think ive got a chance of get my r&r? Any suggestions??

    Pleas help!!

It doesnt matter if the poster ran out last year....The stores are still clearly displaying this big attractive "get £20 off" thing....In my opinion....thats their fault ...not yours.

I can't see where they can defend this.....The poster clearly says £20 of a handset....and to be honest...its still saying that 7 days after it should maybe have been taken down......

Ive had RnR's on this (more than once) over the weekend, with hardly no bother at all.

I dont see how HO can say its not a misprice.

Yeah, I've told her that she can still take it up with CS even though she got a refund in the end. I'm not entirely sure what the manager did, but my friend was so upset about it that she doesn't ever want to go back to that store again. It amazes me, though, as you had an R&R out of them last week. They KNOW the score, yet they still treat customers with such contempt. They know that if she complains they will have to honour the deal and give her the package back, yet they persist in causing as much hassle as possible. Personally, I think they do it on purpose to stop people from daring to ask for refunds when they've been overcharged. I've told her to complain about the treatment she received.

I'm a big fan of always keeping the product and receipt rather than going for just the refund...you can always return it later (if you've got CS HO involved and still got nowhere).
    Hope that makes sense!

Oh, I totally agree. However, the person is question is fairly new to all this and felt completely intimidated by the staff at the store. She has been reprimanded, I can tell you... ;)

I too would like to say a huge thank you to posters on this site.

The even better thing was that, inspite of me asking the guy twice if he needed to mark my recipt or wanted a signature from me, he didn't want either. So I've got the goods plus a virgin receipt - which I assume I can take back to a different store and get a full refund. I guess I'm stuck with the game though as its not sealed - unless they will exchange it for something else in the same department.

I'm over the moon thanks folks for the superb advice.

It will be very interesting to see the response to this bit of your story.....and it would be nicer to hear the Legal angle...............as you aren't alone in this.
  • Tesco Extra in Bletchley MK (near Ikea) has the xbox 360 and the poster but no GOTW on display - though they got me one when I asked. Just about to pay (full price) when the checkout girl (upstairs by the electrical) said - oh the discount hasn't come off!!!! Doh! So I pretended to not have my credit card on me.
Go for it if you live nearby - but pay for it downstairs they won't know about the discount.
    Good luck.

Forgot to mention, I caught a glimpse of the manager today (for the first time ever) and he does look like a right git!!
  • I doubt you can get a refund in any store, as the refund will go against that particular store's wastage. When a refund is given on an overcharge, becuase the customer gets to keep the product, that product is "wasted" as far as the store is concerned - they can no longer sell an item they do not have. A store has a target set for wastage (around 1-2%). They aren't going to want to add to their wastage due to another store's problem (albeit even though this is a nationwide problem). Although you've bought the item from another store, in order to issue a refund, the store would have to add the item you bought from the other store to their stock system, then give you the item and your money back. This means they've added an item to their stock which they do not have - that item becomes waste. I really can't see that any store is going to be willing to do that.

Ring your local and see what they say.

I have had refunds for clothing in a different store to where I bought it.
