I don't think from what has been posted here we can draw the conclusion that the poster was discriminated because of his creed or colour (perhaps taken advantage of) if the manager was dealing with any young couple, he would probably played on their naivity to gain control of the situation and the same probably would apply if dealing with someone elderly and perhaps less worldly. I'm not saying they weren't as I wasn't there but I certainly get the impression from the op that the manager merely took advantage of the situation rather than discriminated.

Oh, I agree. Don't think the OP said that she was subjected to any sort of racial abuse. She said she felt uncomfortable and nervous due to not being English and being young. This is something the OP really does not need to worry about for the reasons I gave - none of it is relevant.

Out of interest, how do you think you are qualified to make that statement. You may not raise your voice or get frustrated, but to make a general statement based on your personal experience is nonsensical. You have no way of saying how other customers generally behave.

I personally have never been treated in a way that could be described in any way as bullying or intimidation by Tesco CS staff and none of them has ever lost it with me.

Youve been lucky then........and I am very respectful and quiet when I speak to them.

Until now all the R+R opportunities on consoles have been caused at store level, due to sloppy staff leaving old Game of the Week posters on display. Although the sloppiness has been widespread, it was an entirely unsurprising situation given the way some stores are run.

But things have now take a truly amazing twist, with Head Office sending out posters that state the wrong Game of the Week. I have to say it absolutely beggars belief that such a massive mistake could happen at such a high level when the stakes are so high. Especially when you consider all the the problems over the last month. It's not as if they haven't had a sufficient chance to finally get it right.

Just how much competence does it actually take to co-ordinate the game printed on the poster with the game programmed into the till system?

I can only assume that business is good for Tesco and they've got so much money that they've forgotten the value of it.
I think you will find this event has taken place with the help of local managers, their efforts to dissuade customers from availing themselves of r&r and subsequent concealing of it in their shrinkage reports in the past has allowed the whole situation to prevail just waiting for such a situation as the GOTW v poster glitch to occur, and that's why it is causing so much damage now, chickens hunting for heads.

  • Hi Guys,

I am looking for some advice. I purchased a PSP console and the so called game of the week from a store this evening. the notice stated "game of the week - Tekken.....Save £10 when purchased with a PSP console".

I purchased both of these and the £10 did not come off. I therefore went to CS to r+r. The manager refused and just offered me the game as an R+R. Is this correct? the way that I see it is that it is a multisaver item. I.e - If I purchased two packs of sausages and it was two packs for a fiver and I was overcharged then I would get a full R+R. Am I in the wrong?

I got a full refund on both the console and the game in the end as the manager would not back down but I do still have the receipt. Can anyone give me some advice who may have had a similar issue before?

    Thanks in advance.....

But you would definitely have got a refund if you kept the console & game

Don't let them intimidate you - keep the goods and sort it out with HO CS

Y'know, I don't think it is possible for a store to conceal r & r's. It is automatically reported when actioned. And I still have yet to hear of a manager being challenged over value/volume.

Phone customer services Monday am after 9 you should get the response your looking for. A pattern has been set for dealing with console problems now, I think it will be only in the most unusual circumstances that a refund will not be given.

Tesco are sitting up and paying attention now, this fiasco will be used to ensure it doesn't get repeated, (:rotfl: ) and these instances will give them a lot of data on what is going wrong and where it is going wrong, and more importantly how THEIR representatives are dealing with it, there is more to this now to Tesco than mere shrinkage this is no longer a hard cash problem for them it is a possible publicity disaster, they will need to be seen to acting correctly and promptly and dealing with all those concerned appropriately.

    Quick question..

Why would a store manager choose to ignore HO CS orders?

Are they not leaving themselves open to disciplinary action?

    Just a thought?

If managers aren't sanctioned for voluminous RnRs, then why do some managers get all up in arms as if you were trying to take their sofas from their sitting-room at home?

Not meaning to be aggressive. I take your word for it.

can anybody offer advice im new to this R&R policy
bought some bob the builder toys ,there was big yellow signs on shelf saying "2 bob the builder toys for £8.95" so I picked 6 up for little un for xmas when i got through till I noticed that only discount had come of 2 of them

this is where i am confused as it was after 10 pm the cs desk was closed so i told a member of staff and she came and looked at fixture with me and agreed I had been overcharged so she got manager who said I hadn't been overcharged as it was only the toys priced 5.25

on small sel it named each toy some where yellow sel which said eg scambler 2 for 8.95 or £5.25 each
and on some the white sel said talking loft 8.92 each (sorry confusing )

my question is ,is this a R&R as i never took notice of the small sel as the big yellow sign said "bob the builder toys 2 for £8.95" and not all 5.25 bob
the bulder toys 2 for £8.95
