Until now all the R+R opportunities on consoles have been caused at store level, due to sloppy staff leaving old Game of the Week posters on display. Although the sloppiness has been widespread, it was an entirely unsurprising situation given the way some stores are run.

But things have now take a truly amazing twist, with Head Office sending out posters that state the wrong Game of the Week. I have to say it absolutely beggars belief that such a massive mistake could happen at such a high level when the stakes are so high. Especially when you consider all the the problems over the last month. It's not as if they haven't had a sufficient chance to finally get it right.

Just how much competence does it actually take to co-ordinate the game printed on the poster with the game programmed into the till system?

I can only assume that business is good for Tesco and they've got so much money that they've forgotten the value of it.
  • Very well summarised, taxiphil.

But thet keep overcharging us poor unsuspecting customers until we dare to try for an R&R under their policy and then try to ban us for doing so

I don't think from what has been posted here we can draw the conclusion that the poster was discriminated because of his creed or colour (perhaps taken advantage of) if the manager was dealing with any young couple, he would probably played on their naivity to gain control of the situation and the same probably would apply if dealing with someone elderly and perhaps less worldly. I'm not saying they weren't as I wasn't there but I certainly get the impression from the op that the manager merely took advantage of the situation rather than discriminated.
Four guns yet only one trigger prepare for a volley.

Together we can make a difference.

Manager then appears, takes receipt from CS and says "your description has been circulated following your visit to the other storeI won't be giving you a refund and I'll be keeping your receipt" QUOTE]

How can Tesco get away with doing this????

    Are you a regular R&Rer?

I'm not but I know if i cross into my local extra they are just waiting to ban me and Ive only ever had 2 R&R's out of there. i have witnessed senior managers behaving in the strangest manner when i go in I feel like a V.I.P the way the run to watch me!! :rotfl:

Next time I go I might take my local paper reporter with me, either that or my lawyer!!

I really do have to agree that it is generally Tesco staff that lose it, I never raise my voice, never get frustrated, but some CS staff and store managers show little restraint.

Out of interest, how do you think you are qualified to make that statement. You may not raise your voice or get frustrated, but to make a general statement based on your personal experience is nonsensical. You have no way of saying how other customers generally behave.

I personally have never been treated in a way that could be described in any way as bullying or intimidation by Tesco CS staff and none of them has ever lost it with me.

    Just bumping the question..

Has anyone had them delt with on the same day?

Yes....although the failure RnR happened 2 days before(Monday)....(angry manager)...I rang HO at 9am(Wednesday) and had a result by 9.20am......

but on the other hand I have had them take 17days.......but that was my first via HO, and I've learned that the telephone is "mightier than the pen"

Been away for 5 days and I've just managed to read through all the posts since the reopening of the forum.......wow....its moving fast............

Re more than one phonecall to HO about different items.....Done that as well in the same day.....a problem arises when you are asked your reference number or postcode(which they ask for everytime(in my experience).....I ended up hanging up......

Re getting banned from stores as was mentioned much earlier.....(for the benefit of the OP)...Yes I suffered that as well......The manager told me I couldn't have an RnR as it was too much, and as I'd had more than one RnR there before, I was committing fraud, and wasn't welcome back again.....Another ban came when the manager said...If HO award you this RnR , I will bar you from the store....they did......... so he did......childish!!

Re the PSP and Tekken fiasco...thanks very much to the OP....I will trace back through the posts and "thank you"......believe it or not, 6 times.....although no one seems interested in the area where I got them.....as no one got in touch re a previous request.......

A big thanks also to OP of the "£20 off a £50 or over phone when you buy a £20 voucher"......bagged the Sony Ericsson K510i this morning after a bit of kidology from one manager while the one I was chatting to....agreed with me....had to pay for the £20 airtime tho....but sold it on.

Been out tonight to look for the XBox/Just Cause package....but all the charts and £20 off signs are missing in the area.

Again re the PSP offers, I got full RnR's on both the £149.99(PSP 1003 pack) and Tekken, and the £179.99(Ceramic White Value Pack) and Tekken....... had some arguments along the way...

A manager in one store refunded me the game price, and said he would phone HO, I told him I would also phone HO....he told me not to bother as he wouldnt refund on the console even if told to by HO.......this was the one above that took 20 minutes to sort out on the phone....needless to say...manager sent his minion to deal with it.

One store still had " Gangs of London" as the GOTW.....an opened copy(offered full RnR so wasn;t bothered.......if I'd been a bit sharper I possibly could have had the "top of the range" £210 PSP with that one....as it wouldnt have triggered the discount......(being the wrong GOTW).....

3 of the stores in the area, didnt have the £10 off sign up...

I looked at my store locator and decided to have a day out, seeing the sights and visiting a remote store.....when I got there a found it was only a "metro"....We looked around but couldnt find anything, very disappointed in them not selling phones or games....when suddenly spotted a DVD sign behind a post......success.....found a PSP and Tekken....

Staff obviously hadnt seen anything like this before....and were all dumfounded when the manager turned to CS assistant and told her to give me a full refund and the goods as well....put his cap on and said "good night" and went home. I think that RnR will be the talk of the store for a while......

On another occassion....Paid for items.....but store didnt have them in stock....after a bit of gentle persuasion, manager agreed that I had been overcharged, gave me full refund and written promise to get me the PSP the next day.....Got a phone call from local CS later that day to say I could collect my (no hassle, no questions asked) PSP the next day......How nice they were!

On another occassion(my only refusal of the week)...The store insisted that the POS was situated directly below the actual PSP it refered to....and didnt refer to the ones either side of it...(which I had chosen).....but after speaking to HO(who agreed with them?????) and not wishing to "get known in a new area" I left, telling them that I thought they were totally incorrect, and would contact HO again. HO actually agreed with the store again on this one.....partly I believe, because by this time I had had other PSP RnR's and someone at HO had recognised me.....I left it alone.....but may appeal later....(its a principal thing now).

I never use my Club card or Credit card now.....too much hassle...I found refunds came with much less hassle by paying cash..............and on 4 of my refunds the CS didn't write anything on my receipt.

As managers do when we all first try to get a refund

They're happy to refund a tin of beans but not a games console
