Does a till receipt, despite being just a scrap of paper, legally become your property after the purchase has been processed?
If so, the manager may have broken penal law by taking illegal possession of what is your legally acquired property. I'm thinking attempted theft or even robbery. Too bad he wasn't armed.
Yeah, I know it sounds crazy.
Please please take this up with HO in a very serious way. I think the Manager was an arrogant SOB to have decided to keep the receipt. I have no knowledge of UK law either but I would think that refusing to hand over a receipt would constitute some law breaking on some scale. I think HO will give him hell for that if you push it hard enough.I have learnt that living life to the fullest gives you a much better high than alcohol or drugs !0 -

It didn't happen to me, but to "4810510". I sort of replied to what 4810510 wrote.
Trouble is, that manager will deny everything and his assistants will testify in his favour, and that's that.0 -

Ring HO on Monday morning. You should still be able to get the R&R. Explain that you didn't want to argue with the manager, hence getting the refund for now. However, as you were overcharged, you would still like the policy to be implemented. In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
It's time to make that change.

Never thought I would ever post this....but....thats not correct, Ben.

Oops sorry - then my comments go to the original poster
The manager can hardly deny it cos there were the CS people with him at that time ? But I think HO will look more favourably on the customer's point of view then the manager's especially considering that the original poster has a good case for the R&R as wellI have learnt that living life to the fullest gives you a much better high than alcohol or drugs !0
