I think what they were aiming for might already have been achieved. There will be people reading this thread who are thinking, I'll just keep it/return it for a refund, if it's not a no hassle R&R it's not going to be worth the effort.
They must know at HO how coordinated some of the R&R ing is and are going to do their damndest to mininise their losses, at £300 a shot it doesn't take many people getting 1 of these let alone a few each to make a noticeable dent in their accounts.
There is nothing either good or bad but thinking makes it so.
  • I think all those in posession of an xbox that wasnt refunded by the store could now be banned fromthe store, now that could be a problem for some people especaily if they went to their local store. opps.

So will you be slapping your !!!! at Asda price, paying to keep Mockney Jamie Oliver in work at Sainsburys.

    Other options include,
    Aldi no atmosphere !!!!!! shopping
    Farmfoods limited stuff
    Iceland limited stuff
Kwik Save if you can find one
Lidl yeah right same as aldi they keep costs down by not playing music in stores
Marks & Spencer Expensive and no Hinez baked beans
Morrisons crampt stores and charge for parking
Netto send you kid to school with one of their bags and they come home the same colour
Ocado no idea somthing to do with Waitrose
Safeway one step up from Aldi/lidl and netto
Somerfield one step up from Aldi/lidl and netto
Waitrose not many of them about up north
  • They don't need a reason to ban you, as the store is private property. No store manager has the ability to ban you from other stores, however. You should also receive notice of the ban in writing. If you don't get it, don't consider yourself banned. Out of curiosity, who banned you?

Actually this is both true and untrue at the same time :) They do not need a reason to ban you however they are on dangerous grounds if they ban you when you have not done anything illegal. The reason is because it is very easy to bring forward discrimination laws.

For instance, my own religion (it even has a website) "The church of consumer rights", actively encourages those who follow it (me) to find pricing errors in stores and point the out to customer service and management. We (I) do this because we think that consumer rights are so important they should have the same rights as any religion. You can not get banned from a store for expressing your religion as long as it is not illegal and is non offensive. Thats the law. Protect your consumer rights religiously.

So no, they can not ban you for just anything, they do need a reason and need to show they have not discriminated against you in any way.

You're wrong, Kondormid. They do not need a reason to ban simply because the store is private property. They do not need to tell you the reason for the banning for exactly the same reason. Tell you what, though. I'll come round to your house tonight and walk in your door. If you try to stop me, I'll claim discrimination on religious grounds. Trust me when I say your arguments wouldn't stand up in court. Private property - law protects the owner.

Can Tesco bar customers for getting a gew rnrs?

They certainly can......but not only that, they can bar you if they dont like the colour of your hair, your make of car, your perfume......they can bar you without giving you a reason.......its their property.
  • Just to muddy the waters somewhat,

If you were a Tesco shareholder, would they be allowed to ban you then? As strictly, it is actually your property as well.....?

but I only shop there for the clubcard points to pay for my hols

So go and shop somewhere better and cheaper and put the savings away to pay for your hols! You'll be able to go anywhere you want, instead of just somewhere that accepts vouchers.

Using ClubCard deals to pay for a holiday isn't as good a bargain as it seems anyway - you have to pay full brochure price usually if you want to use Tesco vouchers, and can't take advantage of any of the special offers.

See - getting banned from Tesco might be one of the best things ever to happen to your purse/wallet.

hi, I got barred from the local tesco last week for getting a refund on ps2 & game, phoned customer services to ask why, they said they store feel i've abused the rnr policy and they can pass on any of my details and basically i'm not allowed into a tescos anywhere. I've only had a few refunds and they've been accidental. any advice.

Don't use your Credit or Club cards, always use cash, and be prepared to either refuse to give your name and address for an RnR or have a false (valid) one ready...You arent obliged by law to give them your details......its just another form of Tesco intimidation....

If the store has passed on the details of the OP to other stores, there's a data protection issue. I would pursue them for breaches of the DPA.
