Anybody who receives a ban as a result of r&r should take this up with Trading Standards, this is clearly an intention to intimidate and punish you for being overcharged and can be viewed as an attempt to prevent you from exposing further ILLEGAL practice in the future. Ben, the problem here is proving the reason for the ban. They won't admit why they have banned the OP. The OP won't even get a letter informing of the ban. I agree that the OP should report it to Trading Standards, however, as it is definitely intimidation. It could also be seen as an attempt to pervert the course of justice. After all, it is an offence to give misleading price indications. It could be argued that a store manager who has banned a customer for what he says is an abuse of the R&R policy is trying to stop said customer from spotting any more offences. Those offences could lead to prosecution should they be found. Thus, by stopping said customer from entering the store, the manager is perverting the course of justice.

Apparently a letter is on it's way from HO

Who has banned you? HO? I wouldn't be surprised if no letter ever arrives.

  • on the phone to them now and they are saying that as I accepted the game, that has concluded the matter (that closes the contract). Am arguing that I was not given any other option, so will see what they say to that....

Tell them that you accepted the offer under duress as you were informed that if you failed to accept the offer then you would get nothing. Tell them that ecause it has been less than 14 days and you felt under duress then the mater has not been made as no legal agreement has been made. Tell them that economic duress is by law a reason for voiding a contract.

Yes apparently according to the store who phoned to arrange my refund. She insisted it was HOs decision and not theirs although the manager last week in store was extremely nasty and intimidating and accused me in front of other customers of taking advantage.
I phoned HO to complain about him and I get banned

Awaiting another call from HO after complaining about the ban
    I haven't got one!
  • so what are the games of the week then to look out for in Tesco stores?

I'm going to visit 3 of my local tesco's tonight to see if they have any advertisements up with the wrong GOTW (Game of the week). Which are the CORRECT games of the week to avoid disappointment.

    Thanks guys!

[Where will I do my weekly shop?

You can do your shop anywhere else that's cheaper than Tesco - which means nearly all the other big supermarkets (eg Asda or Morrisons).

By the end of the month you'll be wondering why you used to throw money away at Tesco, and will be kicking yourself at the higher prices and lower quality you've been putting up with all these years!

I think BBC Watchdog might love a story like this. Customers getting banned for spotting illegal overcharging and asking Tesco to honour its advertised policy. Could be disastrous in PR terms.

If we make a big fuss it might spoil it for those who haven't [STRIKE]yet[/STRIKE] been banned!

  • I agree with VeryTrying. I used to live in Bradford and we always got everything in Morrisons. I might ONLY use Tesco for free stuff from now on... LOL! :D
