If you are not coping as much as you say you are, then you really should consider the ins-and-outs of bankruptcy.

It is now not only a matter of your pride, it is a matter of what you are putting yourself and those around you through.

Unless you have an end in sight, and a reasonable and attainable end at that - then it may be your only real choice.

Twenty years is a long time, and you'll never get them back.

    Sorry.

    Hi Klare,
Don't feel bad about being negative - we've all been there!
Have a look at wheels to work. They provide 50cc scooters to people who have difficulty getting to work/training. In our area it cost £3.00 per week plus petrol. The £3.00 is put into your local credit union, so that if you have a crash the money's there to cover the insurance excess.
Contact your local transport executive or the countryside commmission (info@countryside.gov.uk)
Just to lighten your mood, someone asked for and got a car on my local freecycle.
Do you have a "timebank" where you swap skills (eg you bake a cake in exchange for babysitting/car reapirs https://www.timebank.org.uk
Stay on mse - it's the best medicine I've come across for years lol!
  • Thanks ASG - someone in my local freecycle group got a car too. The OP sounded so desperate about their car situation that I thought it was a possible idea - and how do you know you won't get help unless you ask?

    :(

poorbutrich.... sorry if I came across as sounding ungrateful,,,i didnt mean too and I am not ungrateful. We are desperate. Like i said earlier, I really think I should have waitied until a bit later before I posted on here. I knew I would end up pi$$ing someone off. So please accept my apologies. I just have gone past the point of believing that anyone or anything is going to make a difference to this bloody awful situation ....
maybe tomorow I will feel differently.
Please dont let my Ar$yness put anyone off from continuing with the good advice on any of the threads.
:EasterBun ...what more do I need to say?!

sometimes you just need a good rant and to vent that negative emotion. holding it all in will do you no good. better to get it out here and now than to let it bubble over and explode with loved ones later.......

  • Hi Klare

I know you hate the thought of renting but if you did sell your house (so at least you did not have a mortgage) and rented then you could apply for help from the council with housing benefit and maybe something towards your council tax too. Plus are you entitled to anything from tax credits as you are both working and have two small boys?

    Hi -

Have you tried registering on https://www.liftshare.com just in case there might be anyone that your OH could share lifts to and from work?

Failing that, we do actually have a car that we need to get rid of....needs MOT and tax, but is basically sound and we would let it go FOC - pm me if you want. We are in North Lincs.

    no hugs.

I don't think anyone's annoyed with you at all! We are not being put off from anything... people are being moved by your post into responding. We know its a desparate situation you're in, we know we can't solve it for you, but we can (and will) try to support you.

There might be numerous suggestions that you've thought of, tried and dismissed already. But maybe someone will suggest something you've not heard of, or say something that really helps. Perhaps when you are feeling stronger you could read over the suggestions again, you do not want to be trying to take it all in when you feel awful.

Please don't misunderstand me when I say you really do sound very sad and negative. If it hadn't been for what you said in your original post I'd have said you sound depressed. You know yourself and if you're not sufferring with depression thats a positive thing, but stress can be hell too. What I mean is... try not to play down what you're feeling, or think you're weak for feeling it, just cos its not got a name like 'depression'. Hope that makes sense.

We're all here just to listen... feel free to rant or sob or just be !!!!!! off with us all.

No worries - my heart did go out to you, and was trying to post something other than a "hug"!

I'm confident things will seem better tomorrow.Today's downpour of rain is probably not helping anyone's outlook.

This forum is brilliant for unleashing things that you sometimes can't say to friends or family, so if it makes you feel better, go for it!

    Best of luck Klare.
