  • Dear Klare - I really do feel for you. At our worst myself and partner were 25k and rising in debt - I didn't know where to turn. In the end we sold our house and paid everything off. I can't tell you how much better things are.

You say you pay 800 a month mortgage. I would definitely have a look at renting. I currently rent a 3 bedroomed house for 550 per month. Can't afford another house to buy just yet. If you could get something similar you would have much more money to play with. Or could you downsize? This is one way to raise the money to bail yourself out - believe me. I must admit when we were with the CCCS they were great and we did have enough money to 'live' on i.e the odd treat, new clothes etc. Make sure you add everything, don't skimp on the figures. I also agree with you over bankruptcy - something that should be avoided at all costs. Please try to keep positive. Get in touch with CCCS and say you are struggling - they can change your DMP.

the thing is we are tied in to our mortgage for another two years, and because we have no equity in the property we wouldnt gain anything by doing so, just end up even further in debt. Not saying we would rule it out in the future if we ever start to make headway.
No way we can down size as I have a step daughter and step son who come at the weekends so we are already like sardines in a tin. And because they arent dependant on us legally, the CCCS can only give us the budgets for a family with two kids, but we still have quite a lot of expenditure on them. The CCCS have told us that we are already on the limit for the DMP. any less and we wouldnt get accepted for it, so at the moment there is no room for movement. But thankyou, i have been given a lot of food for thought in all of these posts.

    Hi there
So sorry for your troubles. I have read through the whole thread. I do not know how you got the debt or how long you have been on the boards, but just in case. Have you thought about joining Quidco? I was a bit of a sceptic, but by doing the click throughs (when I remember), I earn about £1 a day. Not a lot. but it only takes a few minutes, and that is another £30 a month, if you were religious about doing it. And whilst I am sure that you have changed all your providers to get the cheapest deal, if you do switch again, if you do it through Quidco, then you get money back.

You do have to be selective, as some of the best earners are also come ons for gambling or whatever, so I steer well clear of them. Too tempting for me. The best thing about the click throughs is that you can do them any time in a 24 hour period to get that days credit.

With regard to your children, here is something to think about. Blacking out the window, either with some tacked up dark material, or with a blind. This worked with both my boys, ie keeping the room darker for longer. Now they are rarely awake before 7am. Also what direction does their room face. If it is east or south facing then they get the sun staight in there room first thing. So if you have a north facing room may be you could move the rooms around.

If either of these work, think about how much better things will look for both of you if you have an extra hours sleep a day!

The other answer is tough love. When they wake up keep putting them back in there room until they get the message that it is not time to get up yet. With my younger son particularly I found if I gave him some juice when he woke early, he would have some and then go back to sleep. Is this an idea with yours.

I am really sorry if I cause you any offence with my suggestions, but it is techniques that I have used with my two.

    Best of luck

thankyou for your suggestions and they havent caused offence at all ( the only person who did that was someone who didnt have the guts to post on here but chose to do it anon. on my blog instead) ....
unfortunatley beds are built into room so cant move around, but I will try getting some blackout fabric for their curtains to see if that helps out,,,, mind you at the moment they keep taking their curtains ( and the rail ) down so may not be an immediate solution but one I am sure will help in the future! .Thankyou once again

Can i ask chevalier a question about Quidco... i joined up a while back but can only see a way of making money by making purchases.... which I am generally not in a position to do. What are these click throughs that you have mentioned. I cant find anything on the site that says anything about earning by clicking etc. Normally I am fairly good at stuff like this but this has got me stumped!

    theres actually quite a few

theres searches via the shopping comparisin section ie highst web ( 8p) kelkoo, deal time. I just search for different stuff each day, click through, close it down.

theres loads of bits of surveys type things too, opinionistic, sign up to P&O ferries newsletter you get 25p, order some brochures you get 40p

    loads of bits like that

plus if you do a free trial of postal dvds you get 7.50 ish blockbuster, lovefilm, and so on

also there is pigsback too, theres a massive thread in Freebies on this, you can also translate it into cash, and not vouchers if you prefer.

Yougov worth a look. I got given 50p for answering 4 questions this morning

SOmeone said the NCB sales are starting up soon, and nows a good time I dont know about those, but if you have 2 littleuns theres a few quid there in thier old gear.

Id also take the cars apart & sell for parts or sell them for scrap, no point in having motors cluttering up your life if you could get even a tenner for them its better than nothing.

    love

 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast
  • okay, I am obviuosly being really dense about this ( which does happen from time to time especially with only 4 hours sleep during the night!

    I have joined Quidco,
I have found the companys where it says to do a search on computers, books etc to get rewarded 10p, however, when I go back and check my earnings there is no record that I have done any of this.
Am i expecting it to show too quickly or , what i ammore concerned about, am I not doing the search correctly or taking the 'investigation' far enough.
I really hope someone understands what I mean. I have tried to find a search on here to get more info but have failed miserably.:o
