Hi Klare, read your posts and glad you are feeling brighter. Just a few comments, whatever industry you and your dh work in will probably have some sort of charitable trust attached whether it be greengrocers, insurance or whatever. They will most likely be able to help with the car problem, ie make a donation to you. Yes its charity, but who cares, thats exactly what they are there to do - help folks who need it! If you want me to search for the details of the ones applicable to you, post here and I will do that and mail you. Love and good vibes to you x

There's a new thing with NHS dentists now, since 1st April this year you're not 'registered' with a dentist in the same way. I don't completely understand it, but charges have been reduced (yippee!) and any NHS dentist will take you for an appointment (it's all done on a first come, first served basis) - so don't take the 'you're not registered with us' !!!!!!.

Here's a link that explains a bit more & you can search for dentists in your area: http://www.nhs.uk/England/Dentists/Default.aspx

I have all the stuff to make a black out curtain. I bought it years ago (pre dfw). If you want the stuff PM me and i'll send it to you as it's been sat in my cupboard for years. If you're not handy with a sewing machine you could always just tape the material to the window.

Hope lifes getting a bit more bearable.

not sure where you got the bit about not being registered from as it doesnt say anything about it on that site. I have spoken with my primary care trust this morning and there are basically no dentist in about a 50 mile radius that are even doing NHS emergency never mind taking on new NHS patients.
to update tho, after I was in floods of tears they finally managed to squeeze me into an emergency access clinic in the next town and the dentist there has said that all he can do is pull them out. GREAT! so, through no fault of my own, because there have been no dentists to access, my teeth have deteriorated to such an extent that I now have the privilage of qualifying for extraction! Thanks NHS for nowt! - I think I should stop paying my NI contributions, get a refund on services not recieved!! grrrrrrrrrrrrrrr ...... that will be bbbbbbrrrrrrrrrrr soon as wont be able to make the gggg sound wiv no teeff

~You are aboslutely right that is what they are there for but I could never do that. I have no judgment against anyone who acces's those facilities but call it what you will, I am far too proud, stubborn, stupid. We got ourselves into this and we have to get ourselves out. And we will will beut feel I am allowed to have a few dips along the way ..... but thanksyou for the suggestion and even tho it isnt quite right for me it is bound to help someone else as all these threads and posts do.

    Hi Klare,

I heard about it through my work and I've got a PDF document that gives more details, but I can't post attachments here, don't know if I can PM it to you, or else if you want to PM me your email address I'll forward it.

The PDF is from our PCT here in Portsmouth, so not all of it (phone no's etc) will be relevant, but the upshot is that if an NHS dentist has a free appointment they cannot refuse to see you - the main problem I guess is finding one with a free appointment in the first place!

There is a London-based number for if you get 'severe and uncontrollable pain, swelling, bleeding or trauma' overnight or at weekends which apparently will give an emergency appointment - 020 8390 9991.

My heart goes out to you about the extractions - I know I'd be devastated.

  • you could give your head a shake for a start, if you don't want sympathy then you won't get it. If you think your bad off what about those kids of yours having to put up with you two fighting all night and day because you spent too much money. If they are destructive I suggest you take them out on your days off and wear them out, take a picnic and go for a hike instead of sitting about arguing about a situation that by your own admission you are not on a position to fix.

Would you really rather 'kill yourself' than make yourself bankrupt. I suggest you get your hands on a fiver and take a good look at it, somewhere on there you will find a line which reads "I promise to pay the bearer", its a worthless peice of paper which dictates our lives. Money the precious thing we spend our lives chasing, wanting, needing even killing for does not exsist. Are you telling me that a concept is more importnat that your life, your kids, your husband. My partner is filing for bankruptcy next year, he has never felt so free in his life, it is nothing to be ashamed of, what does it even mean, he can't borrow more of what is not there to borrow, it all numbers on paper.

If this is harsh then I'm sorry, I do feel for you, I have spent many a night awake worrying about finances, but you have to let it go, you only get one life and so do those kids of yours, if you go bankrupt by the time they are old enough to understand you will be back on track and they will not have to watch you struggle as they are now, at the minute all you are teaching them is that you are slaves to a system which in turn effects their happiness, their childhoods.

You would be suprised at how many people are giving away cars with MOT's on them, there is no harm in asking, you might have to tax it but if you drive your old car into a scrap yard you will get thirty quid for it, find another thirty and there is your tax. Don't be defeated before you even start.

I wish you luck, take care.

i dont think that going bankcrupt is anything to ba ashamed of, not at all, its just not for me. and know I didnt mean literally that i would rather killmyself, just that that is how strongly I feel about this. Most of our debt unfortunatly came from bad circumstances surrounding my other half and I feel that he and us to be honest will never learn our lesson if we dont get our selves out of this by paying it back.
you are right that i needed to give myself a shake and that is what I did.
As i think Ive said, most of the time I can deal with it but we are all entitled to a bad day now and again. I just had one of those days where everything i touched went wrong, i was exhausted from lack of sleep and things had just got on top of me. It happens to the best of us.
And the reason I didnt want sympathy is because I knew thats what it was. I just needed to rant, and I am sooooooooooo grateful that this forum exsists because it allows me to do that.

Could you try asking for a car on freecycle?

    Klare

Freecycle group based in Hull would appear to be your closest. Is OH adept with car maintenance??? If so,you might not need to be given a complete car. If you advertise for specific parts quoting model etc, you would be pleasantly surprised at what may come your way. You do have to make an Offer of an item you dont need 1st though, to show other freecyclers that you are genuine. I live in Lincs too (Immingham) great view of the refineries from here:rotfl: Seriously, I am thinking of starting a group here because I dont have a car and people hereabouts rely greatly on bus's. Am thinking of BR too at the mo (but thats another story)

    Good luck
You can't please all of the people all of the time,so I've given up trying...I'm on a high getting my life back on track...Hope U can too;)
