  • Received our replacement last week, fitted it and thrown out the old one after cutting off the LED sensor.

Ours wasn't falling apart, but never mind - better safe than sorry.

Sadly due to demand they are no longer offering the energy saving plug.

Would anyone buy a Lime plug?

Just looked at my LCD TV manual: the TV uses 1 watt on standby. So if it's on standby for 1000 hours that would use 1kwh - about 10p for a kwh? To use £10 of electricity it would have to be on standby for 100,000 hours - about 11 years.

If a Lime plug cost £10 it would take 11 years just to break even - assuming the Lime used no power at all. It actually uses "<0.5watts" so it's going to take 15-20 years just to break even.

Anyone know how much a Lime costs to buy? And have I got my sums right?

I have got my tv, sky, dvd player and wii connected to my lime plug so I think it saves me electricity although I havent done the sums.

I ordered a lime plug a few weeks ago and got it earlier this week. It is an ES1017, the one that was recalled earlier this year! It has a green sticker with the product code stuck over the old label with the product code, but the codes are the same. Will email them to find out if I received a faulty one. Would be bad if they were still sending them out!

Apparently a "free LIME energy saving plug" is "worth £19.99". But then again there seem to quite a number for sale on EBay for less than that. Which is where I expect that's most of the free ones have gone.

have had one of these for some time now no problems at all. Use the "standby" on the remote of the controlled unit. It has a pretty narrow beam and the lime sensor is off to one side.

I use it to control my hard disk/DVD recorder/player. It uses 28W in use and 20 watt in standby:tongue:

It is on the bottom shelf of a glass TV unit and I can't easily reach round the TV to reach the plug normally, plus it hums in standby.

This 'service' drives me crazy. I applied for the water and energy savers months ago, as did many friends - and none of us received any. Today I saw another link to the freebies, so I tried to apply again and just got a message saying I'd already received them. Pointless!
