I second Candygirls advice here, I dog and house sit and the three labs i look after in their own homes are each colour and i reckon the choc lab has half a brain cell which he only uses at feed time :rotfl: beautiful animal, owners have spent 3  years at various training classes,he is still a lovable but loopy loon!
Go for a black or gold , and they love the training and respond well.

A car drove into the back of me at a roundabout, you would think with the terrible rain people would be more cautious. I was majorly in shock, whiplash pain has returned again, and likely to keep getting worse until it all comes out. What is worse is my phone wasn't working so I couldn't call anyone. My bumper is hanging off and my mud flap is pressed into my wheel so my car is undrivable. Also my very good friend text me today saying her Mum (who has terminal cancer) has been taken into a hospice today and won't be coming out (it wasn't expected to happen this soon).
OH has already suspended my mortgage payments for three months bless him, just can't believe I have to go through the whole claim process again and all the pain. Lightening really does strike twice. It took ages for my Mum and boyfriend to convince me the accident wasn't my fault, I guess I feel jinxed (for those of you that don't know I had an accident in April, the same thing). From a jellybaby who is feeling very sorry for herself right now
take care - get some rest before you see the doctor again xxMum, wife and dinnerlady!0 -
I have tried to post three times today but kept pressing the backspace by mistake for too long, and maing my browser go back and lose my posts. So in all honesty I CBA'd trying again, but I want to say {{hugs}}for Jellybaby, Falady don't forget to let us know if you go into labour overnight;), Jayward let us know how you are and good wishes for dandy-candy's mum.
I have been in a lot of pain today since Physio, but that's good as it means we hit the spot, apparently, and I haven't given into it, I weeded my driveway and swept the path - in the sunshine which finally appeared, it's been a lovely day!!!

Csarina - your fire is lovely, we have a log burner and it always looks so welcoming and cosy, hope you enjoy it.
Jellybaby - what bad luck - feel better soon.
JackieG - hope the physio pain subsides.
Hugs to anyone else that I have missed - too many pages for me to remember everything!
Managed to get a load of washing dried today it was really quite a nice day. Would have liked to cut the grass but the dews have been so heavy in the mornings that the grass is still too wet even though the days have been dry. Tea was whatever anyone could find in the fridge, always too tired after being at work and then going to hospice for a couple of hours, but I didn't have to buy anything for tea which was good.
I think it was bargainbird who asked for the pattern for the door stop - I don't have one! I am making it up as I go along, just knitting 4 rectangles and then I will knit 2 squares for the ends. I will make a liner from an old sheet and fill with lentils or something similar.
Take care all. XX0 -

Topsyturphy a well-trained Lab can be an excellent companion for a 10 year old lad, if Mr LW's friend A's Molly Dog is anything to go by.
What I do know is that A used gun-dog training right from the start with Molly, but tbh I don't know exactly what that entails. I do know he had a book to work from plus relatives who work with gun dogs.
You don't actually have to end up using the dog as a gun dog, but the training methods are (apparently) very effective. - Put it like this, when I looked after Molly, I could have her walking off-lead beside the mobility buggy, with no trouble at all.
The downside to Labs is that they are very often basically stomachs on legs! Other friend C had one, named Bo (short for Bourneville), and he was a veritable hoover!
HTH.
My parents have had 3 labs since I was 4. All of them eat everything in sight and sheep poo is a veritable delicacy <retches>
Oh and fox poo is like Chanel No.5 to them :eek:bargainbird wrote: »Topsy - OOOh a new pup :T, German Shepherd if trained correctly are fab dogs...our neighbour has one with 2 toddlers and its very well trained i' dont think i ever seen it on a lead, all i know about choc lab they can be chewers but thats just what i've heard
My mum and dad's remaining dog is a choc lab - can't say she's been a chewer, she likes a bone but she's never chewed anything she shouldn't have
I have come to the conclusion that I just cannot have an untidy and cluttered house, it stresses me out far to much, and I find I cannot relax at all
, my house is far from spotless, but everything is in its place, and gets cleaned regularly, my kitchen is always spotless though, unless i'm actually cooking. Once it all tidy I can relax, I just find it easier to do an hour or so each day, and then I find I can relax.
thanks for all saying you feel the same as me re the mess. I try and keep the house tidy - probably why I feel I am constantly tidying up
If I am honest what bothers me is when H is home things are more untidy - I spend all week keeping on top of things and then weekends and days off it all goes to pot
Csarina - oooh send some of your lovely fire my way it's freezing here tonight.
jackieg - Hope the pain is worth it and the physio is working xI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knife
