Hi there! This is the Old Style Daily Thread for 26th August 2010. It is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier![*]As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.[*]When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new Daily Thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Dailys' live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.[*]Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just fine.

Morning.

Its still dull and wet here, it chucked it down all day yesterday and was just plain horrid. Today looks to be a little better but the appearance of the sun will be rare..
The chaps erecting my scaffolding yesterday got soaked.

Spent far too much money yesterday on junk stuff, snacks for my daughter's party. Dominos pizza (although on offer at 5.99 for any size.) Stuff in Wilkinson etc... I was thinking of that food waste program... But all mine gets fed to the chickens so it is not really wasted.

Off to Orkney today on a road trip of over 800 miles. Big fishing competition. Thankfully all expenses are covered. Long way for 8 hours fishing!

Well folks, time to get my tackle out.

Cheers

    Hi all.

Just a quickie because I am in a rush. My email account has been invaded and has been sending out spam on my behalf. I have managed to email everyone on my contacts list and explained, and I'm trying to sort out the problem. Donny-Gal has suggested something I can try, so thanks Donny-Gal. If anyone here that I have emailed in the past receives an odd-looking email from me, I didn't send it, I promise! I'm sorry if anyone has been offended by it.

Hope you all have a good day - I'm sure I will once I've sorted out this spamming business!

Don't get your tackle too wet N9eav!
Hubby's been dropped at the station, breakfasted & with his packup. DW has been emptied, no point putting any washing on as it's still raining here, I'll do it tomorrow as it's supposed to be dry over the weekend.
Today's jobs include making a list of all the socks & doing some paid sewing work & then meeting up with some work colleagues for a drink later.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

I got one Moiliere, but I realised what it was & deleted it.

Not too a bad morning here, cold and grey but not looking like rain - yet! Had a busy day yesterday at work, so put feet up last night - now I wish I hadn,t. Will have to tidy up before I go to work, but at least I have the pressure cooker on just now with soup in it for lunch/tea. We are going to have soup and rhubarb crumble with custard for tea tonight, trying to use up all old veg and fruits before tesco shop is delivered tomorrow. Cant decide whether to hang out the washing ir not - will chance it probably, well better get a shake on and do last nights dishes:o:(

  • Thanks to N9eav for another new thread. Hope your travels today go well and the sea is calm!

mioliere - It's rotten that your email addy's been hacked. My Gmail had that happen a few months ago. I changed my password and it's been fine since.

Oooo-er, Hardup Hester - it's too early for comments about tackle, surely?!

It's cold and overcast here in Glasgow and the forecast is for rain. I was cold in bed again last night and am thinking I'll put the autumn duvet on when I change the sheets on Tuesday.

Today's a bit of an Errand Day. I've to see the Dr this morning then go to the pharmacy, then the post office and I've a pet sitting job to do this afternoon.

The OU has made some of the materials for my course available online so I made a start on that yesterday and shall do more today.

Hope everyone has a good, OS and MSE day!

    Morning all,

It's been a nice day over this neck of the woods after it being overcast for most of the week. Been really windy though. The washing dried in a flash. :D Been out shopping this morning. After lunch been washing down the front verandah & organising a few things for next week. We're bringing our car over from the mainland on Tuesday and want to pick up a few things. Buying 2 more chooks seeing as our girls haven't laid for about 6 months. :(

N9eav Love, love, love the Orkneys. Hope you catch a few.
    Moiliere Unbelievable.

Tonight is a new recipe called Chinese Mince. Think it's a oldy that I've cooked years ago that I vaguely remember but with a few cabbage to use I"m sort of in the cabbage theme atm. :D Hope you all have a lovely day & <hugs> to those not well. Byeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee
Don't worry about the world coming to an end today. It's already tomorrow in Australia. ;)

    morning!!!

Thanks for the well wishes from you all, seriously brought a tear to my eye xxx

Well we had people over last night, so that good all chatting and trying to laugh about our dear friend. Today not suure what were doing. OH is packed up with lunch and off to work. Boys are still in bed.

Looked out the window and there's that morning winter dew on the cars. I love seeing it, makes me of cold winter nights and hot chocolate.

Have some washing to put out today so oging to keep an eye on the weather and see how it goes.
The butterflys are back,,constatntly flying around me since Monday, i've had they either bobdiving me head or sitting on me. Very strange. Think its just my friend saying " i'm here, i'm happy , i'm off on me travels".

Have a good day all x

    Good Morning All

Caught up on some of yesterdays thread - glad you are feeling better about things Kezlou ((((hugs))) to you, Lowesy and anyone else who needs one.

N9eav - Good luck with the fishing today.

Weather here is horrible again, had heavy rain and now it is just drizzling - everywhere is completed soaked. Have checked the weather forcast & the next few days from tomorrow are meant to be dry so I am too ignoring the washing today Hester.

Have finished my course just need to go over it and revise, think will take my exam this afternoon  if I pass this then I have an 8 week course to get through! Will be worth it in the end.

No other plans today - kids will occupy themselves (hopefully) am totally looking forward to when they go back to school next Thursday.

Not sure whats for dinner again - will have a route around in the freezer.

    Have a good one.x

    Morning :hello:

Managed to get hold of True Blood season 3 on DVD, it's fantastic :D

Mr tru's job will probably disappear sometime between now and Christmas. Though there's a slight chance the business will stay open. Isn't it wonderful to know exactly what's going on so you can make solid plans? Roll_Eyes_Smiley_by_Mirz123.gif We've been digging through our stuff to see what we can sell, already made £100. We have our kitchen money too, I'm too scared to spend it on the kitchen now so it's bare brick walls for the next few months til we know what's going on.

Still, we're selling eggs and tomatoes. Master tru has finally declared that home cooked food is much better (YAY!). Don't know if you remember my strop from a few months ago :D but it's worked - he's finally got sick of value lasagne, value chicken curry, etc. I hated buying them but he had to learn that there's a budget and it's the only thing that's worked. He offered to make everyone a roast yesterday, AND he cleared up afterwards.

Rain, rain and more rain here. There was so much washing hanging around the house yesterday that the air felt really damp and the clothes wouldn't dry. I put the heating on for a couple of hours to dry everything out.

I'd better go and let the girls out. See you later.

ETA - please don't mention mr tru's job on Facebook, staff aren't supposed to know and the person who told him will be in a lot of trouble for giving him a head's up.
