Thank you to all of the lovely ladies who came back to me about the scan and my eye debacle. I have DESPERATELY been trying to multiquote back and can't seem to. Can somebody please remind me (again) how to do that.
Click the button in the bottom right corner of the person's post you want to quote -the two coloured speech bubble - for up to 3 different posts, then click the "quote" button (near to it) on the 3rd. It'll only multiquote 3 times naturally. If you want to do more then you need to put (without the spaces) [ quote]at the beginning of the text and [/ quote] at the end - or highlight the text and click the speech bubble at the top of the text box (in the advanced reply) that's between the picture icon and the # icon

I have STILL got something in my eye, despite washing it out. I don't really know what to do now, do I leave it and try and sleep on it? My DW had a look and seems to think it is scratched, I however am not so sure!
Sounds like you've been mauling with it :naughty: and that's irritated it and you should leave it the he'll alone so it can heal! :p If you're still having trouble with it in a day or two, or it gets worse in the meantime, you should see a doctor

As for the scan - it seems like there is a split between the ladies here as to whether they do it internally or not. I bet it depends on the PCT. I've just checked my letter and it definitely says "This is an Internal Scan" - and that they take picstures. I hope that means there will still be a screen that I can see?
I think it depends on what they're looking for as to how they approach it, too. Internal scan definitely needs an empty bladder though - as they only need full bladder for external scans as the bladder buoys the uterus up in the beginning stages of pregnancy. At my scan she took pictures every so often, told me that I didn't have xyz, but that she could see that I had polycystic ovaries - asked if I wanted to see the pics on the screen, tilted it towards me and pointed them out - and said the gynae would discuss the options. Usually it's ladies that do the scans, and they seem to understand more what a lady goes through when having that sort of scan, and that they want to know the results. Y'know?
So for those of you that have had it, have any of you been diagnosed with cysts and what does this mean with regards to your fertility? Did you need an operation to have them removed? Do they even do that?
My sister had a cyst the size of a coke can that grew on one of her ovaries (but she had accompanying pain, hence the investigations) and had it removed surgically. Don't get ahead of yourself though. There's most likely nothing of any note to be seen on your scans. :)

Yay! Could we have a link to your FF please?:)

Welcome back QQ, hope you had a lovely holiday,
I have no idea how to do a link to my FF, so if someone has time to give instructions I will get it done, thanks.
According to FF I should be ov'ing about now which links in perfectly with the soreness I have had for the last few months at this time. I'm not sure what is normal, but it seems that at ov time I have an ache around my low tummy area which is worse when I walk, kind of as if my insides are being jolted about if that makes sense? Maybe I'm just weird, lol. I also seem to have a strange combination of being bad tempered and a bit frisky:o at the same time, hmm, not sure what that is all about!
Anyway, it's nice to catch up on everyones news, this is a fast moving thread-miss a couple of days and it takes ages to catch up;)

BigZeee, font of all knowledge as usual. I really appreciate your response, thank you. I guess I was trying to figure our what the opptions were for possible things that were found (I have super heavy, super clotty, VERy painful periods), so I didnt go into panic/shock there and then. I can be like that - a bit of a drama queen! :P

QQ - Welcome back! You've been missed and there's not been any SS'ing. No sir-ee *whistles*

They found my cyst when I was admitted to A&E with suspected ectopic at 9 weeks pg, they did a scan and found a cyst had ruptured (mc anyway as the embryo hadn't developed but nothing to do with cyst, just bad timing :o). After it had ruptured the cyst was about 5cm x 6 cm, there's no way of telling how big it had got before this but the pain when it burst was HUGE. This was about 2 months ago, I've had 2 follow up scans and the cyst is getting smaller on it's own so unless I start to get pain they'll leave it alone (surgery is an option if it's causing trouble but better not to have it if at all possible). It shouldn't affect fertility as the other ovary is fine and since I've been able to feel ovulation from the good ovary every month rather than it alternating. Ovarian cysts in themselves are not the same as polycystic ovaries or PCOS which can affect fertility. Most women will have simple/functional cysts at some point during their fertile years but they vast majority will never even know as they cause no problems and go away on their own. I was just unlucky :o

    Good luck!

Hi Skintchick, nice to meet a fellow attachment parent :) I also wanted to do the BF helper thing but what with working four days a week I thought it might be a bit too much although I'm keeping it in mind for my next maternity leave.

Do you still have LO in bed with you? How do you cope BDing? DD is in a side cot and so far we haven't found it a problem, just have to pray she doesn't wake up and normally I'm a bit vocal so have to keep quiet - adds to the excitement a bit and means we don't have to have any marathon sessions which I'm too tired to do anyway and to be honest I think I would get bored! Or do you do it in another room? Probably more sensible :o

Sorry to hear about your MC and lack of sticky dust so far, fingers crossed you, and everyone else on here, get lucky soon. I had a MC back in Nov 2008 but was lucky and got pregnant quickly after it. I noticed you said your going to try DBing at least every other day, I don't know if you have seen this site but it recommends not trying more than every other day until you are ovulating (see second bullet point in the fact section).

My sisters second baby is due on Tuesday, she just posted on facebook that she has been on the toilet all day! Getting excited about getting new baby cuddles soon :smileyhea

I'll have a read of that link in a mo, thanks.

We actually moved DD into her own room when we moved house a year ago. In hindsight it was a BIG mistake, she wasn't ready, and we just ended up putting her to bed there and then bringing her in with us at first waking. Now, she sleeps there all night, and has actually mastered going back to sleep on her own, although I still usually feed her to sleep, it just depends how tired she is. If I can;t feed her off OH lies on the rug with her till she sleeps and then puts her in her bed, but she does sometimes ask to go in her bed and then goes to sleep by herself. I have to say, things were tough at night till I nightweaned her, I think she was about 19 months when I did it, and she started sleeping much better after that.

She still comes in with us whenever she wakes though, and has a big morning feed. We also had a three-sided cot so she could sleep in her own space but she actually sleept between us and I ended up in the cot! :rotfl:

So with BDing, she isn;t in with us, we did try when she was, but Oh was freaked out by it (wouldn;t sleep with me when I had a bump either) so we would end up doing it on the sofa!

Quick question - what is this 'attachment parent' business? Never heard of it before!

    RebekahR wrote: »
Why hello. I was thinking of doing attachment parenting. I really need to look into it more as I don't know the full extent of it. What age to you begin to seperate from the lo?

Well, you've both had some fab answers so far, but basically attachment parenting is about allowing children to reach their milestones when THEY are ready, and not pushing them into it, so it usually involves bedsharing, breastfeeding, babywearing (and toddler-wearing!), natural-term breastfeeding (allowing the child to self-wean from the breast), gentle discipline, no sleep training, no smacking, that kind of thing.

It is bascially evidence-based parenting, as there are no studies showing that early weaning from the breast, sleep training, etc., are actually good for children, (and often far from it, sleep training in particular has been shown to be very harmful).

I must admit, I am a bit confused about the question on separating from your child. I don;t think any parent ever separates from their child really! I'm not being funny, but I don;t really get what you're asking, do you mean about nursery?

For me, and my daughter, we have not been apart from each other for more than a few waking hours, even when she is with OH she will ask for me after a couple of hours, and she was always very much into me and did not want to be left, so I didn't. Other babies are much happier to be left with different carers, but with AP (attachment parenting) you only leave your child when THEY are ready, which will differ with each child.

Even now, I do not leave DD, she has only ever been left with OH, my parents, his parents, or a friend she knows very well, and then only for a couple of hours.

However, she has recently begun to show signs of being able to left longer if she is in a familiar place, so I will start to work with her on that and see what happens.

I am confident that by the time she is 5 she will be very ready to leave me and go to school!

THe thinking behind AP is that babies have to come out of us too early, because of our small hips and their big heads, so they are actually not ready to be apart from mum for a long time - people talk of the fourth trimester, for example.

So it is really just being very sensitive to your baby/child and letting them set the pace for feeding, separations, etc. They are all different and so it will be different with each child.

I think the Natural CHild Project website sums it up well http://www.naturalchild.org/jan_hunt/attachment_parenting.html

Hope that's not too much of an essay!

Oh and 2522Laura my experience has been nothing short of wonderful so far (aside from the act we dont have a baby yet!) - Everybody has been SO accepting, from our DRs, to this forum, to friends, to family (We've had to enslist the help of a few friends as we have a DS - which is a long story in itself!).

We're going down the donor route, purely because we cant' afford IVF/IUI. Our first donor was a bit weird, and a few weirdos did get in touch initially and you have to sift through them - BUT our current (2nd) donor is just lovely. I know friends who have had a positive experience, with it - and friends who have had a bad time. But then - the same can be said for friends who have gone down the clinic route.

The thing that *I* personally found the most helpful, was that we have friends who have successfully conceived via the route we are going down and they were a complete fountain of knowledge. I literally went to their house for a cup of tea with a notebook and pen and asked them every question I could (DW was at work, so I had to relay it back!). I'd happily talk to your sister if they need/want any advice.

Thats really lovely of you, I cant tell her about it at the moment as I dont want her to find out we are TTC till we get our BFP but I think it really will put their minds at rest. You never know how people will react and she spent years agonising over coming out bless her (we figured it out shortly before she told us :)) It has made a huge difference, she is sooo much happier now and I couldn't be prouder of her.

Top right of your chart screen> sharing> setup> select the settings you want, click publish/save, and copy (and paste on here) the url in the box, which will look something like this: http://www.fertilityfriend.com/home/340920

Tis all normal. The pain you describe is called Mittelschmerz - a German word essentially meaning 'middle pain' because it happens roughly in the middle of your cycle. (It's also normal not to be aware of it too!) The frisky and moodiness is cos of the hormone fluctuations and natures' way of telling you to get at it and procreate ;)

Dunno about font of all knowledge! Catch me on a bad day and I don't even know my own name! :rotfl: Are you relatively regular 2ba? I know what you mean, though. I'd prepared myself for fibroids, cysts, all sorts, and hadn't even thought about PCOS...which of course is what I now have. Ah well. :o
