Hi All
Tinkwings - hope your PMA picks up soon - you must have some nice things going on?
Well... I've been very naughty and bought a pait of Boots' own make tests - took myself off to the public loos in town (classy eh??) - and there is a very faint cross in the cross box!! Still not convinced because of the faintness though - will save the other one in the pack 'till 2m or Sat. I'm meant to be going out tomorrow though - how on earth do I get away with not drinking?! My friends know that I never ever take antibiotics!! xx0 -

Ooh Northern! How exciting. Sounds good to me. with PG tests, a positive is pretty much a positive, so, a faint cross is is cross, no matter how faint!
How about telling your mates you have had a dicky tummy, and don't fancy a drink. I know i dont usually fancy drinking booze when i've had a tummy upset.
Congrats!Married 13/03/10 #1 DD born 13/01/12!!

Northern - how exciting. Sounds like congratulations are in order :j
Kira - how's pregnancy treating you? I see you've had a scan
I need a good old kick up the backside. You know when you feel like there's too much going on well that's how I feel. On paper it doesn't seem much but I just feel swamped.
There's the stress and pain of the appointments that I've had and now I'm waiting for results again and wondering what I might need next. I know I still have more appointments coming up (have another one on Wednesday). I then stress about the time off work that I need to take for them and my cover story/what people thing - there were pregnancy rumours after just one blood test so God knows what they've concocted now lol.
I've been doing a photography course and the deadline to hand everything in is in a week. I have sooo much to do and I'm spending more time panicking about what I need to do rather than just getting on and doing it.
I've just deleted the rest of my worries as they really did sound silly.
Oh well, I've booked us a lovely holiday to Turkey for the end of August so that's something to look forward to. Moan over0 -

((hugs)) but a holiday to Turkey sounds fab! A girl I work with has just come back from there and she said it was lovely! :T
I feel like utter sh*te today - cold has gotten worse and I'm getting some cramps so I guess AF is not far away - although I must say at after five days of spotting I would be glad for the arrival of AF so my cycle can settle down again (obviously a BFP would be better but I don't think that's going to happen!)

Before I bore you all to death my post below is very long and off topic so feel free to skip if you don't want to fall asleep at your computer. Oh and through most of it I ramble and don't make much sense
Can I go off topic slightly and ask you ladies about PCOS. I know some of you have also been diagnosed and I thought you might be able to give some input (but not medical advice of course).
I’ve posted on the discussion board of the verity website before but I’ve found it moves quite slow – so I thought I’d ask you lovely ladies.
I’ve also just ordered a book from Amazon so hopefully I’ll find that quite useful when it arrives.
Anyway, a couple of months ago I was diagnosed (on the basis of having symptoms) as having PCOS and was prescribed Metformin as treatment for insulin resistance, one of the symptoms. I have an internal scan booked for next week and so far have had some blood tests (which I THINK were a mixture of infertility/PCOS tests). The brief verbal feedback was that the blood tests didn’t show anything significant but to book an appointment with my doctor. I’m going to wait until I’ve had my scan so that the doctor has all the relevant results.
The Metformin has worked wonders in relation to kick starting my cycle. I had my first real period just 3 days after starting the Metformin and after a 33 day cycle I had another period – so I’m pretty impressed.
I would imagine my main symptom is insulin resistance. For years and years I’ve suffered and have been fobbed off by the doctors with tiredness, dizziness, weakness etc and these now all appear to be symptoms of insulin resistance. Oh plus I’m a big fatty lol. I’m now on Metformin however I’ve noticed in the last couple of weeks that my symptoms have got a lot worse and I think my blood sugar levels have gone a bit haywire. I only take 500mg of Metformin a day but the consultant I saw the other day for my colposcopy said I should be taking 3 tablets a day rather than 1. That’s fine but in a way I find it odd that my symptoms have got worse since I started taking Metformin.
I’m just babbling now and I’m not even sure what I’m asking or trying to ask.
I suppose one thing is that I know I need to get my diet sorted. I’m trying to follow a diet that would be suitable for diabetics but need to find one first of all. I also wonder if my doctor should have arranged blood tests to check my blood sugar levels. I’m sure I’ve had a basic fasting blood test before but I did notice on the Verity discussion board that a lot of women said they had normal results with the fasting test and it was only when they had a glucose tolerance test that it showed a problem. It would seem that a lot of people had a bit of a fight to get a tolerance test though.
So I guess I’m asking if anyone with PCOS follows a particular diet (I know you should go low carb) or if anyone has any experience with the insulin resistance bit.0
