After reading all the posts on this thread, I am sort of in the same boat and have come to the conclusion that even as young adults, the maturity factor takes a long time to click on some of them. My eldest is 20 away at uni, she is a dedicated childrens nurse, also works part time to make ends meet, also is a pleasure to be with and I miss her dreadfully, my youngest is 19 and totally opposite, just the same as the OP. But the youngest is also so immature in all other ways too, so we have been waiting and waiting for the maturity to happen, but we still wait.

Youngest is also at uni now (started Sept), said she would never phone, we would not see her til xmas, don't call etc etc. SHE phones about everyother day, SHE decided to come last week cos she had freshers flue, and has now decided to come next weekend cos she has a reading week, my wife and I have a little snigger to ourselves, but we do not say a word to her, just ok dear see you soon.

Having said that, before she went to uni there was no word in her vocabulary as convsersation, but now she talks and talks on the phone, so maybe just maybe she might just be growing up????? Yes?

No doubt when Xmas break comes and both together again...back to world war III

Home is a very quiet place though, at the moment anyway.

Agreed- a little taste of her own medicine might work better than an argument!

This thread made me laugh. This evening I pointed out to DS3 that when he has a shower, some of his hair falls out. And as his hair is long and sleek and glossy, it usually blocks the plug-hole. So could he please REMOVE his hair from the plug-hole after his shower because I don't like having to do it.

His first response was to blame the other long-haired member of the household, who hasn't been here since Thursday. I pointed this out, and was told that he might have been coming home for his daily shower. From Italy? And anyway his hair is a completely different colour. Then he said:

    "Well it doesn't bother me".

But I wonder if it will bother him if I put it in his bed? :rotfl:

And is this more or less antisocial than DS2 who still has to be 'reminded' when to shower?

Oysterman, you and Oysterlady need to work together on this, I feel. If neither of you dealt with the washing put in the machine in the morning, then your daughter would learn better habits. If both of you moved any dirty washing left around the house into her space, she'd realise how annoying it can be ...

I'd stop cleaning everything and start clipping my toenails into the glasses etc. Especially when her friends were there. You get the picture. Let it get really disgusting. Then she might get motivated.
