I am having trouble with my mobile phone which has developed a fault - the touch pad symbols do not work when I press them or the phone rings people when I am trying to just open the various menus. I spoke to someone in the Orange shop in town and they said to ring Orange. I have spoekn to Orange who have agreed the phone is faulty but have told me they will replace it if I pay an admin charge. I said they should do it without charging then they said it was out of warranty. I have only had this particlar phone since mid-july as the original phone they sent me in May, which I got as a replacement for a phone I lost and paid an admin fee for the insurance, turned out to be a faulty model and was replaced free of charge in July. Now it needs to replaced they are saying they have to cvharge an admin fee as my warranty started when I took out the original phone and calls package and does not count from when I got this particular phone. Anyone know who I can contact to clarify what is right?

your warrenty starts from when you 1st got the phone.
it doesnt extend when you get replacements
anyway, are you requesting a replacement under orange care? if so then you need ot pay the admin fee.
since you will be using the service
or are you trying to make a warranty claim? eg sending the phone off to Orange
  • I recently made a purchase through republic clothing store online. I checked first that I could return to store - 28 day policy - fine - so I placed the order - on receipt of the goods on the invoice it then stated if I paid with paypal I could not return to store - any other payment method and I could - can they do this? Can they discriminate between payment methods and not make that clear on their online refund policy prior to purchase? A warning would have been good - I ordered alot and is going to cost a fortune to post back !

I went back to their website and found a seperate section about paypal - but it was not on their main refund section it was a seperate item elsewhere.

A cut and paste from the section I looked at (no mention of not being able to when purchasing with paypal)-

Can I return to a Republic store? Yes, you can return your items to any Republic store within 28 days of receiving your order for a refund or an exchange, please use the store locator online to help you find your nearest store.

You need to take your delivery note with you as this acts as a receipt of purchase, if you don't have it the store cannot process your refund or exchange and will refer you to customer service.

Goods can only be returned by the cardholder as all refunds will be placed on the original card used for the purchase, the last 4 digits of your card number are printed on your delivery note for the store's reference.

Please note, for hygiene reasons we are unable to offers refunds or exchanges on earrings. All swimwear and underwear must be returned unworn and in their original packaging, and bikinis must also still have the protective liner in the pants.

How do I return unwanted items?

You can return your items to us within 28 days of receiving your order, we will refund you on receipt.

If returning by post, please complete the 'Returning Your Goods Form' enclosed in your delivery. If you no longer have your form please send your unwanted items to the address below along with your name and order number.

    Republic.co.uk
    IDS Logistics (UK)
    Door 19, Parkway Int
    35 Kettlebridge Rd

    S9 3BZ

Alternatively, UK customers can return any items to a local Republic store. Please be aware that if you paid using PayPal you must return by post for a refund, but you can exchange in store.

All items returned for a refund should be unworn and still have all price tickets and labelling intact. We reserve the right to refuse a refund on any items that are not fit for re-sale. This does not affect your statutory rights.

    Faulty Goods
If the goods you receive are faulty please email info@republichelp.co.uk and supply us with the fault along with your name and order number, we will then contact you to discuss a resolution.

  • I ordered online, lots of feed 'n stuff for my chickens, to come from Fife to the Highlands in Scotland. I paid £6.99 postage for priority delivery, which because it was a priority delivery, would be given preference out of their warehouse and should have been delivered the following day. Here we are a week later, and still no delivery. Would this be classed as a broken contract? Who would I approach about it? The company tell me that they can do nothing because of the weather, and there is a backlog. I can appreciate this, but they still had this option available on their website and were happy to take my order.
    Any comments please?

Am I entitled to a refund for this ?

I;m a foster carer and the young lad (15) had a new t.v. with built in freeview bought for him this week by his parents. It needed an airiel so we sent him to the local t.v.shop to get one which he did for £15.
It didn't work, either on his t.v. or on our old analogue one in our bedroom
OH went into the shop today and was told there was no guarantee the airiel would work and they don't give refunds or exchanges.
I phoned the shop after OH came home and spoke to the owner..........he said he knew the airiel wouldn't work due to the part of town we live in (no-one had asked our young lad where abouts in town he lived). After much discussion he said he would take the airiel back but on condition that I had an airiel fitted by him -cost £175 ! He's already fitted an airiel some years ago when we got our digital t.v. for the lounge. I feel I'm on a loser with this one but can't help thinking that surely this sort of thing can't be right.
Do I have any rights to refund or exchange or do I just have to forget the £15 spent and just avoid the shop in future ?
I would be unstoppable if only I could get started !

custardy - I can't prove it wouldn't work in a different part of town just that it didn;t work on either of the televisions we have upstairs, whether digital or analogue. The box clearly states Indoor Digital T.V/ Airiel and lists it's qualities.

  • I saw a Woll non stick pan demonstration at an Ideal home show and it was very impressive - the man melted a plastic bag in the pan and tipped it out and it didnt stick at all. He also poured sugar in, let it caramalise and again no sticking. As it came with a lifetime guarantee. I bought one and yes it was pricey but I thought well if it lasts a lifetime then its worth it in the long run.
But earlier this year having had the pan a couple of years, not used every day, I was less impressed. I looked after the pan, never used metal implements etc, was very careful with it, but the non stick was definitely failing - even a fried egg welded itself to the pan, so I sent it back and asked for a refund. Weeks passed I heard nothing. Wrote again, sent them proof of postage (big mistake - I should have kept that) No reply again. Finally sent a recorded letter. Nothing. Phoned them and they said there was nothing they could do as they had notreceived the pan or any of my letters, even though they were correctly addressed. They told me I should claim from the post office as good lost in post.
Frankly I do not believe them, but what can I do now? Need advice here please!
