Unless they stepped out straight in front as you literally as you got to them, you're going to have scrubbed a lot of speed off.
and isn't that JUST the point. Bought the lie indeed. Huh!

but I thought these were average speed cameras, so I was also slower than 50 at some places to balance off

You don't do yourself any favours do you.... average speed cameras don't mean you can break the law by going over the speed limit in one place as long as you drive really slowly later to even it out... :rotfl:

If we must use speed cameras they should be targeted, get lower speed limits outside schools and accident hotspots and site the cameras there, there should also be time limits where the cameras work or don't work.

I agree with this -there's a speed camera I pass a couple of times a week in a dip on a straight piece of road with no housing anywhere near it. The positioning is nothing to do with safety. There's a village half a mile further on and no speed cameras there.

    Sorry, digressing. Option 2.

Is that camera not to slow people down for people emerging from the village hall? I rarely see these random cameras most are in a place where traffic should slow down.

i would go back to the part of the route where it happened and check to see that the signs were compliant. I recall people getting off speeding charges for simple things such as the white border on the signs wasnt there as it must me. Things like that....
  • Cant stand all the "you did the crime, now pay the fine" posts-so boring....

But option 2 is a no brainer, cant believe you even had to ask.

Am I the only one who thinks that maybe you should have said No to your mum ?
My wife just had a baby a week ago, our second, and I certainly didn't stray far from home in the last few weeks.

I've had a lot of points in my 21 years of driving, and once got a 6 month ban for totting up. Make all the excuses you want, then count yourself lucky to even have the opportunity for the speed awareness course.

If your licence is clean as you say, then 3 points will not really be a problem, especially as you say that usually you don't break the speed limit.

    Good luck with the baby.
Karma is a wonderful thing. ;)

Actually that's pretty much exactly what it means, given the lack of real traffic police these days.

The OP just didn't balance out their averages correctly, or failed to take into account that you need to average 50 between every pair of cameras.

I note with interest that the latest generation of Road Angel has a feature when it actually calculates your current average speed since the last SPECS camera.
