This site should also auto filter on "self-obsessed and judgemental people".
I was NOT wrong and under similar circumstances, would do the SAME THING AGAIN!!
That's absolutely fine and possibly in the same situation some of us would also have the urge to speed up and get home. However knowingly breaking the speed llimit, however well intentioned and how ever silly them may seem has consequences. So yes, whilst some of us would possibly do the same I am sure we would do it on the basis that we were aware we would end up with points and a fine.
Of course there is also the argument that actually slowing to the speed limit may well prove the fastest way home, as then there would be no chance of gteting pulled over by motorway police and wasting time explaining it all to them. You just have to balance it all out and take the consequences for whatever course of action you decide on.I’m a Forum Ambassador and I support the Forum Team on the eBay, Auctions, Car Boot & Jumble Sales, Boost Your Income, Praise, Vents & Warnings, Overseas Holidays & Travel Planning , UK Holidays, Days Out & Entertainments boards. It should also filter out people that just want to hear what they want to hear.
Not the hard facts.

I knew when I posted this question that it would divert from its original intention thanks to some idiots on here..
Judas, I am sure idioits like you will one day get the capability to read my post to find out how many points I've acculmulated in the past 15 years, leave alone workmen that I've killed on the road.
The roads were EMPTY!!! with no work going on! I can control a car at 60 on Motorway (I work on cars for a living). I knew I was taking a bit of risk but I thought these were average speed cameras, so I was also slower than 50 at some places to balance off but I don't know how many cameras are between junction 11 and 10, so here I am.
Going by the advice, I will take the "safety awareness program" and give the cost of supporting my family through a tough time.
Many thanks once again to all those who have contributed (I've ticked the thanks button too)..0 -
But this illustrates why cameras aren't the best way to improve road safety. At that time in the morning him speeding by a relatively small amount on an empty road is not a danger to anyone. The motor way I bet was virtually empty, and no workers around at all. A patrol car would have stopped him and spoke to him, taken into account the circumstances and likely warned him to slow down and let him on his way.
If we must use speed cameras they should be targeted, get lower speed limits outside schools and accident hotspots and site the cameras there, there should also be time limits where the cameras work or don't work.
In this case unfortunately the way the law stands you will have to stump up unfortunately, unless you want to risk the court which given the circumstances -some of which you can get proof for could go either way.
May be worth looking at some of the forums who deal specifically with speeding fines to see how likely things might go in court, but if you just want to put thing behind you and get on with family life the speed course is the best option, sounds quite cheap compared to some I've seen posted at around £100 or more.
good luck

I agree cameras are not always the best solution and that speed limits need to be revised in this country. But it never ceases to amaze me when people deny being in the wrong after being caught speeding. The law is pretty clear. If you don't like a particular law, campaign to have that law revised. Contact the government, write to your MP, start a lobbying group or something.0

Before you call others an " idiot ", you were the one that broke the speed limit and got caught, not me.
Now work out who is the " idiot ", it isn't too difficult.
BTW, I don't know Judas from Adam.:)0
