All I was asking what sort of value the car is worth, not whether I should Buy it or not.
OF course, I will be getting someone too look at it first and then I will make my decision whether I will buy
    Help me!

OK you've made your mind up. This entire thread has been a waste of time. Buy the car. Just don't bother making a new post when you find the head gasket has gone and you're having to pay more money to shift the heap.

Trust me, I spend a lot of time in my local pub with these guys, only two of them are fully qualified mechanics, the rest are essentially fitters.

Only one of them actually drives a Renault, that is probably only because it is company supplied.

At last you've posted something that makes sense, and explains all your other posts.

in that case you are very lucky that not only have you been told what people feel it is worth, but you have been given a wee bit of 'extra free' advice about whether or not you should buy it. given that most of the posts basically recommend avoiding the car you should perhaps be taking that into consideratioon instead of coming back with a crappy attitude towards people who were only offering advice

go on buy the car.....................just please, come back and update us all in 6 months :rotfl:

I think that is why I got so annoyed. Even if you pay £50 for it and somebody looks at it they cannot possibly know if it will pass an MOT or not.

Lets just say best case scenerio
Cost of getting car started £50
Cost of MOT £100 inc some work
    Cost of service £50
Cost of tax for six months £65

Allready the cost is £315 and thats assuming you're doing the work yourself and there is no labour involved. In reality I think the costs above will be a lot higher too. All the extra £10 here add up. I spent over £1000 in repairs on my Corsa in one year and that was checked over before I bought it by a machanic and it had a years MOT. The finally straw was after I had spent the £1000 the head gasket went.

If you have a mate who can do all the work for free then this car might be worth a punt, but if you're paying labour it will be a money bit.

I see your point! I could get a mate to do it, and maybe do some myself

    Thanks

That said, head gasket failure is expected on a Corsa. As I've mentioned this is probably a better proposition than a same age Corsa/Fiesta mechanically. :rotfl:

Why did you spend that much on the car? Surely that is your problem?

    Regards,
    Andy
