Which is not the end of the World is it?.....Jeez
Depending on price the OP could get it for and how capable they are of fixing the problems it could turn into a cheap car for them...0 -
Well here's a 96 model with 12 month's ticket and ready to go for £395. Ok it's done 120k and has had a knock but even then it should have some life left in it.

OP, the car you have been offered is too much trouble when you can pick up something like the above for next to nothing.0 -

Quite well spec'd for their time too, and a hoot to drive.

Not according to the fitters at my local Renault dealership.:)0 -
If the car has an imboliser the lack of keys could mean its a big problem. If it doesn't then a few new locks and key from a scrappy should sort it.
This could turn out to be a good motor but its been stood for ages, it may mean the emisions are hard to pass. The rubber bits do start to crack so even if the tyres look ok they may be due for replacement. Then there is things like the bushes, CV boots, shocks etc.
Even if the car was free how are you going to move it?
I personaly agree with the rest the car is worthless and the fact is no keys makes it even more worthless.
Finally its not milleage which kills cars - its age.0 -
1995 Clio does not have an immobiliser. :beer:0

£50....and tell them you will take a cheque.0

Surely it depends on spec? I thoguht from 1996 this was a legal requirement for all petrol cars. I've had two 95 Fiesta both had one. The 95 Escort also had one.0

You've never had a Renault, you wouldn't go near one, so why are you hanging round Renault dealers?
A 95 Clio for £50 could be a good deal, if the mot is easy, and there will be no problem getting the bits for next to nothing.
If all goes wrong, it's still only a few quid, down, and whatever a scrappy will give back. Well worth a £50 punt unless it's a wreck.0 -

Ford adopted the PATS system in 1994, that bears no resemblence on what Renault did in terms of immobilisers and alarms. There is no legal requirement at all in terms of alarms/immobilisers.
For the record a friend of mine had the exact car you are talking about, white, in the family from new and it was TERRIBLE!Proud of who, and what, I am. :female::male::cool:0
