Sky should never have installed the dish!

goater, maybe the site is a little technical for you, although my 13 year old son has no trouble with it.
What you do is set the pointer corresponding to the position of your dish and it returns the max height which will allow a signal , relative to the distance of the tree.
Quite simple really!!!!!!!!!
Useful site that and shows exactly why my friend can't get a Sky signal.0 -
Yes, I tried the dishpointer site and put the marker exactly where I have the dish installed now, and yes the line goes through the tree. I moved the marker to all possible location, front, side , back, chimney and yet the line goes through the tree.0

If you lived in Ireland you wouldnt have a problem...Sky do Tree month contracts there.0

The sky dish on on our annexe is attached to a tall pole which itself is attached to a decorative archway as we also have no line of sight from the house and there is nowhere to attch it to the house itself that will work..
Would something like this solve the problem?0 -
we had a similar problem with a neighbours trees, so we paid to have them trimmed and wouldn't you know, we get great reception now.Nonny mouse and Proud!!
Never argue with an idiot. They drag you down to their level then beat you with experience!!

All I have is the garden and NO WAY am I willing to spoil my garden with a dish on top of a high pole! Plus as 'looktothefuture' already stated that they had similar problem and put the dish on a pole, they even had signal problem when there was wind etc. This option would depict the whole point of having a TV that you can watch without any signal issues.ifonlyitwaseasier wrote: »we had a similar problem with a neighbours trees, so we paid to have them trimmed and wouldn't you know, we get great reception now.
This clearly shows that many people in UK have had signal interference from trees, clearly suggesting that Sky knows about trees blocking signal. Thus, it is surely their duty to train thier installers to avoid such installations.
The fact that this installer did not take this into account, indicates in my strong opinion that they are responsible for this failing and that the contract was null from day one!
Sky could have replied to me to pay for trimming any branches, of course if my neighbour allowed it. He does not object, but it is expensive as there are several big branches on that tree and some almost go above his roof as well.0 -

No what this clearly shows is that trees grow and if you want to have sky you make sure you trim the trees.
you cannot expect an installer to be psychic, for all they knew the tree's were going to be chopped down.Nonny mouse and Proud!!

I don't think you have read my posts.
It was 2 months since installation till signal problems in which time trees do not grow branches to an extent when it was not blocking before and after 2 months it is. The leaves started to grow in two months since the last few months of winter when it was installed.
The tree is in my neighbours garden, and even the Sky cancellation rep admitted I had no power over trimming that tree unless my neighbour approved. In which case he does not mind having it chopped but he won't do it as it is huge and will cost a lot.
I'm sure everyone expects an installer to have eyes and inform me of the potential issues, and why would anyone expect a customer's neigbours tree would be chopped or trimed in the near future?
He should install for 12 months of uninterrupted service and not assume what could happen.
Chopping the tree is not the point other than that he was totally lacking common sense and Sky is ultimatly responsible for his workmanship.0
